For the first time, Ford trucks are more reliable than the Tacoma. So are Ram. So are Chevy.

LOL That's what this is all about? You wanted to rationalize your maverick as the "better decision"?

If you wanted a compact truck go enjoy it, you don't need to come troll here any more if you aren't actually interested in the tacoma.
Yes, this banned member seems to have trolled this forum when he didn’t get his special color options for his Tacoma, so he became upset and vented upon this forum. Then trolled again once he picked up his new ford maverick… both timelines related to his maverick order and maverick pickup. He is replacing a Subaru, so the maverick might be a better fit for him. I warned the maverick forum about their “new” member… and encouraged them to read the troll posts that the same member created here, so the maverick owners can form their own opinion

From the maverick forum from a member named “bad Samaritan “

“
When I posted a similar message on the tacoma4g forum and said that instead of a 2024 Tacoma, I decided to get a Maverick, I got a lot of hate in the comments, and eventually got banned from the forum by simply stating the fact that the 2024 Tacoma reliability has nosedived.

The comments was ranging from "The Maverick is not a real truck", to "Your Maverick will depreciate, and break, and burn", to "Admin, ban this troll at once!"

The Maverick crowd is so much cooler than the Tacoma cult! 🙂
and
The Maverick crowd is a community.
The Tacoma cult is a mob.
Totally different environment.
Here, when a person decided not to purchase the Maverick that he ordered, people wish him luck, etc.
There, you become a traitor and a troll.
Yeah, it isn't always like this. This dink starts trolling and then claims innocence when they're called out. You know they're still checking this thread to see what else is being said.

Well, sir, enjoy those spirited debates about which year 'blue is bluer' and knob-less touchscreens.

I am not defending the original poster nor bitching about my truck, but the article you posted does say, "This year, below-average reliability ratings for the redesigned Tacoma pickup truck, the full-sized Tundra pickup, and the bZ4X electric vehicle hurt Toyota’s score."

And it is true that the resale is not good right now. I know because I just got a trade-in price for my TRD Sport. I'm considering going back to a car because my wife is having physical difficulties getting into my Taco. The truck is only 8 moths old with a little over 5,200 miles on it and they offered me $12.5K less than the sticker. This 25% depreciation is higher than yearly average (industry average is 20% during first year).

The problem with your resale is that you paid sticker. They are going at a discount new, just like when I bought my 2019 brand new.

Except I didn't pay sticker. Depreciation is based off of the sticker price, not what I paid. Even buying my truck $3K below sticker, my depreciation was 21.2%, which is still more than the industry yearly average & I've only had the truck for 8 months. Who knows what happens in the next 4 months?

Don't shoot the messenger.
I've never heard of "RepairPal, but it's not only Edmunds who states the obvious.

Transmission issues, Lower ball joint failure, Daytime running lights melting or burning the headlamp lens, Ultra White paint peeling, and Faulty mass air flow (MAF) sensors.
I'm having alot of those issues with mine. Worse vehicle in terms of reliable I have ever owned

For what it's worth, the marketing and research industry is full of companies that run surveys to get results like "nine out of ten doctors recommend Brand X." These surveys are often biased because the company paying for them wants specific results. But since the data can be used in advertising, companies are willing to pay for it.

J.D. Power works a bit differently. They do surveys and let companies pay to see the results. This makes their findings seem more trustworthy. J.D. Power realized this trust had value, so they started doing product surveys and then telling the winners, "You came in first! If you pay us, you can use that in your advertising." Companies can usually negotiate the cost down from the original price asked.

My $0.02USD.

10,000 miles in, not a single issue with my 4G. YMMV.

The Tacoma's resale value has taken a nosedive, too.
You can't argue trade in values are tanking. I'm not interested in trying to tell people what to do with their money or what truck to buy. However, if you're looking at these trucks because you think it's a Toyota and it will retain its value, that would be a mistake. I have three attempts at dealerships in my area of trying to trade this thing in. Those attempts have proven to me they are not holding their value at all.
