Yes it is unfortunately, but it comes with a 1 month free trial. Just cancel before it renews and you’re good. Luckily, most of the things you change is set it and forget it, so most likely won’t need another subscription. If you do need to change things later on, they offer a 1 month for $10 I believe.

As a footnote, it will be helpful to all 2024 Tacoma owners for this app if you send the company debug data to really help make all customization features current. You would insert the device into your Tacoma, load the More section (the gear icon in the bottom navigation bar), open the Debug menu, and select Collect debug data. I understand Carista occasionally (no guarantee) gives a period of free PRO monthly subscription in return for doing this for them.... they cover a lot of makes and models and this helps them stay current

Finally activated my carista from 2020! I put a video on YouTube and linked @Everthing TRD's video in my comments! Mine is a video of turning on the windows and moonroof setting and opening them with the remote FOB.. @Everything TRD goes into the menus etc and does a really nice job!
