Hi everybody. I'm really battling this dilemma. I know 10mm is is barely over 3/8", but it seems to make a huge difference in looks. I've seen threads here where people show their +35mm offset and it looks perfect and flush with the fender and others where +25mm looks flush as well. I ordered the Method 316 from my dealer when I picked up the truck. Wrapping in 285/70/17, you guessed it, BFG KO3. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm a photographer by trade so I know angles and stuff can alter the way something looks in real life. I just want the edge of the tire to be flush with the fender for minimal poke, but still more aggressive than stock.

Here is Dan's build with Method 705 +35mm offset:

https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/threads/dans-2024-trd-or-celestial-silver-long-bed-build.4369/

Here's Duce's build with Method 318 +25mm offset:

https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/thre...eels-w-bfg-ko3-flush-with-fender-flares.4191/

Finally, here's Tekoma's build with Method 318 +25mm offset:

https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/threads/build-update-bronze-oxide-2024-trd-off-road-manual.3109/

All are running the same tire, BFG KO3 285/70/17 and, based on the photos, it seems like the poke is different for all 3, (which it obviously should be for Dan's +35mm offset).

They all look so similar and so great from a fit and poke perspective. I just don't know what to do.

Am I missing something? Maybe just that 3/8" inch is just 3/8" inch and get over it? I know. I'm crazy.

Thanks for any words of wisdom that could help solve this back n forth in my brain.

I think you’re over thinking it. Buy the wheel you like the best and enjoy your sweet truck.
Oh yeah. That’s par for the course for me. It’s a chaotic world in that brain of mine  Thanks for the feedback.

I have Method 8.5 703 with +35 and they stick out a hair from the fenders on my Sport. I am running Falken AT4W 285 70 17’s.

Malore, It looks like Dan and Tekoma have OR models. My understanding is the SR5, OR, and Pro all have different fender sizes. Thus, the poke will be different.
You also have RC and Nytop selling a aftermarket fender adding 1/2” to 1” depending on model. That may be one of the visual differences.

Aaaaaaaah. I hadn’t thought of this. Thank you for the insight. I’m running a TRD OR as well. Leaning towards +35, but have the weekend to have my internal battle as the parts department isn’t open until Tuesday. Haha. Thanks again!

Agree on the fender flares. OR is wider than Sport and SR5, Pro and TH are wider than OR.

My Icon Compression +25 with KO3's are exactly 1" of poke from the edge of the flare to the outside of the tire. Totally glad I went with +25 vs +35. I didn't want an obnoxious amount of poke either. The SCS +20's save a ton of weight and look great, but are right on the edge of too much poke IMO. They weren't available when I got new wheels though.

Wow! Your truck looks incredible and wheels/tires are great! Looks like perfect offset to me and just the right amount of poke. Looks like we have the same truck/trim. Thinking I’m gonna stick with the +25mm Method 316 in gloss titanium. Wish they weren’t gloss, but from what I’ve seen they don’t look too shiny or anything. Thanks so much for the info.

That's the same wheel/tire setup I'm planning on running on my truck whenever it comes in. How are you doing on gas mileage and are those C rated?

Haha, I hear ya man. I should take my own advice, I agonized awhile on what and how much lift to put on my truck.

Here’s mine 17x8 +20 with 285/70R17. Lift not installed in these pictures.

WOW! Looks incredible. Ok. If this is +20mm of offset, I'm leaning towards staying with the +25mm of offset on the Method 316. I knew this thread would help me. Thanks for chiming in. Appreciate it. Also, off-topic, but what'd you decide on lift?

Thanks man! Wheel width plays a bit in how much poke you’ll have. I think a 8.0” width +20 will have almost identical poke as 8.5” wide +25.

I used the Custom Offsets calculator quite a bit when I was deciding on wheels. It was very helpful.

I went with the Cornfed (great to deal with btw) 1” rear spacer and their 3/8” top hat spacer. Then I went and got the 1/2” preload spacer from Peak. I wanted a modest lift just to make the bigger tires not look so stuffed in the wheel wells. Should give me a final 1.75” up front and 1” rear. I’m planning on putting it on when I swap the winter tires off in a couple months here.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! That lift height is going to be perfect. Probably doing something similar. Hope you've had a good winter up there in Alberta. Snow has been non-stop here in Central Oregon. Lots of pow hunting on the pow boards recently.
