I have a camper install coming in six weeks and I’d like to pop off my bed rail plastic caps to seal the bejesus out of my bed. In theory I should be able to gently do this with a pry tool(?) ~ but I’m worried about the scene lights and wiring harnesses getting yoinked. Has anyone with a trailhunter or pro with the lights done this for camper prep? I just want to make sure I’m doing this correctly!

I recently installed the ARB bed rack to my Trailhunter and I had to disassemble the left bed rail to run the CHSL wire harness that was included with my kit. From what I remember seeing it was really easy to pop off the bed rails with a plastic tool removal kit. There is a harness from the bed rail lights that connected to the bed lights not really sure how long it was, I do remember seeing a harness zip tied in the bed of the inner rear driver side fender , ill check my phone to see if I have some clear pictures of it.

But to avoid possible damage to your lights I would recommend talking to your Toyota service advisor to see if he can print an installation on the bed light rail kit. That way you can see how exactly it is ran and where the connection points are at . Im sure they can print on out for you if not just let me know ill talk to my Service manager here in california and I can see if I can upload one for you.

Oh good to know! I don’t really have a relationship with a service manager or anything since this is my first Toyota and I’m less than 5k into this thing. I’ll try cold calling somewhere if I can tomorrow but I wouldn’t say no to a PDF! I’m glad this doesn’t seem too crazy to do. Phew.

This is the only picture I have unfortunately it does not show the wiring harness ran in between the rear wheel well and the bed of the truck. I drew where I saw the factory wiring harness was ran, the circles are the bed lights you can see a small whip that connects them to the bed rail lights.

Thanks for the pic! I’m hoping to try this either this weekend or the following weekend. I’ve been trying to get my hands on an install doc/PDF from Toyota but so far nothing yet. Would you mind giving your service manager a nudge? I’d appreciate it! All good if not. I’m fairly confident I can figure this out I just want to be as careful as possible.
