I'm hearing apparently they added front tow hooks for 2025 to all models, is this something that can be upgraded

The hooks that come on all Tacomas are really tie downs primarily intended for securing the trucks during shipping. So they are not really intended for recovery, but they are still the best option for a place to hook onto your frame when needed.

The Toyota tow hooks are extremely heavy forged metal and should be a big improvement over the tie downs for recovering a truck. Although Toyota calls them tow hooks and not recovery points, they show them with a recovery strap on their website.

Are the genuine Toyota front tow hooks rated for higher load limits than the stock 2024 tow hooks that come on the truck? My understanding is the stock tow hooks on the Tacoma are not rated for recovery.
Below is the part description directly from the Toyota site:

PT974-35250

Front Tow Hooks are engineered to help elevate your off-road experience with vehicle recovery. • Tailored with a vehicle-specific design, ensuring seamless integration with your vehicle's frame and preserving structural integrity • Vibrant red finish adds a touch of style and enhances visibility for increased safety during recovery operations • Helps prevent vehicle damage with secure attachment points for recovery straps

Makes me think they are appropriate for recovery. Note: the price is also $160 .... LOL

The price is for a pair, reusing transport bolts for attachment. 19mm bolt heads. Pretty damn cheap, even before online discounts, for what you're expecting it to hold up to.

Strange - I am pretty sure the bolts for my tie downs were 17 mm heads. Maybe doing a whole new home theater setup and several other jobs at the same time has melted my mind! lol

I posted a picture of them on my truck in post #29, and there are others on the second tab of this thread as well.

My new 2025 Taco " SR " 4x4 DC does not have these red tow points... it has 1 apparent tiny ties down (for shipping) and small but larger ring on the other - that I would NOT trust for recovery. Mine was build in January 2025 Mexico.
