I bought a couple of different USB flash drives over a few weeks. None worked. Large capacity, small capacity, high speed, etc . . .

Finally, I just bought an assortment of cheap thumb drives and tried them. They all effin worked, sheesh. I don't think that there is a way to predict which will work, and which won't.

I am enjoying having my entire ripped music library available to listen to.

Any USB drive will work. You just have to make sure it's formatted to FAT32. Most USB drives come pre-formatted to EX-FAT or NTFS which won't be recognized by the truck.

The USB-C port to the right of the 14" display is for media only. Load up a USB stick with music files and the head unit will bring up a player (with horrible "random" capabilities I might add :) ) that will allow you to play those files. You can't feed audio directly into it.

You can't input a media player into the USB-C port and there is no AUX input, as it was unfortunately deleted from our 2024 Taco.

Your only option is to copy the music files off of your Zune player onto a USB-C thumb drive (memory stick) formatted FAT32 and plug that into the USB-C port.

FWIW, I bought a batch of little right angle USB-C to USB adapters so that I could use a "regular" USB thumb drive (much cheaper and easier to find) with the added benefit of it hanging down the side of the display rather than sticking out of the side.

I want to play music from my zume. I checked on line and read where I was to get a verbatim 16 mb flash drive along with an adapter... make sure the flash driver was formatted to FAT32. I took the music on my Zume and moved it window media player and then copied to the flash drive. I then took it to my truck, plugged it in and turned on the truck... the truck never recognized the flash drive. So after doing everything I was told to do, and it didn't work, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do now? I appreciate any advice. Thanks
Specific to your situation...

What type of music files are on your Zume player? mp3? ALAC? FLAC? wma? I find mp3 to be more universal. I don't know if the truck player can play all formats.
Can you "see" these files when you hook the Zume player up to a PC? They should show up in Windows Explorer with the Zume player showing up as an external drive.
What do you mean when you say you "moved it window media player"? Windows Media Player is simply a player. It has no storage capability.

Assuming you have the 16 GB USB drive formatted for FAT32, when you plug that into the computer, does it show any files on it?

Here is what I would recommend.

Plug the Zume player into your PC using USB. Find the music files on the Zume player and copy them onto your hard drive. Create a folder if you like. Name it something like "Temp Music". Unplug the Zume player after copying the music files over. Plug in the USB drive. In Windows Explorer, hover over that USB drive, click the right mouse button and then click "Properties". Confirm that the drive is formatted FAT32. Copy the music files from the Temp Music folder onto the USB drive. I would recommend going into the Temp Music folder and copying out of that folder instead of just copying Temp Music onto the USB drive because Toyota's media player doesn't like a lot of nested folders.

Once the music is copied, confirm it's there by opening the drive in Windows Explorer. If they're there, you should be able to play them in your truck. Turn on the truck, go to the audio screen and touch the "Sources" button on the screen. Choose USB. It should play the music.

Word of advice, if you don't want tracks repeating frequently, just browse to songs and let them play back alphabetically by song title. The "Random" function of this player sucks. It doesn't put all of your tracks into memory and play them in order. It seems to randomize after every few tracks. I've got over 150 songs on a USB stick and in a 45 minute drive, I've had songs repeat even though I was using "Random". :)
