I was rear ended while stopped in a lineup on a freeway in my 2024 SR5. The damage looked minimal. Took it to an independent bodyshop and they replaced parts on the rear bumper for $2700.00 that was then paid for thru insurance and they delivered the vehicle back to me.
The trailer hitch seemed slightly slanted so I took it back to the Toyota dealers auto body shop where I purchased the truck.
They measured the frame and determined it was bent out of spec. They submitted a supplemenary repair estimate to the insurance company of the woman that hit me totaling another $18,000. to replace the frame. Apparently Toyota won't allow repairs to a frame.
The adjuster approved the repair sight unseen within 24 hours of the estimate being submitted.
Now the problem is waiting for the frame to be delivered to the Toyota bodyshop. Apparently Toyota has a policy that they won't ship a single frame to a zone and they wait until they have a full load before delivering to a zone.
Estimated wait time is currently two to five months. At least I have the vehicle in my possession so I can continue to drive it.
