One Year old Tacoma- Anyone paying $15 for remote features in the app?

My Off Road hit one year in mid February. I took it in for the 10k service and they replaced the active shutter wiring harness (even though I never had an issue) they siad the incorrect connector was used leading to issues that we have all heard about. They also checked the brake lines and some other things.

Have had absolutely no issues (knock wood). On the one year anniversary I lost the remote fucntions on the app. I liked using it so when I checked the price to renew it was $15 a month for the remote and either the drive connect or streaming with remote. That's no bueno! Not paying $15 a month for that!

I did contirm the remote starting using the fob still works. (Pressing lock twice and hold on the third within 5 seconds)

Toyota, the cost is too much I only want the remote functions on the app and not the bundles. It's not worth $15 a month to me. Anyone paying for this per month?

I wasn't going to, but I found starting the truck from the app was a great feature when the temperature was near 0º.

And, of course, that's easier on the engine, too.

My 6mt isn't remote start capable from the factory. That's the only feature I would consider paying for, but not at that price. I will let the free trials expire and won't think much of it. Although the occasional reminder that I forgot to lock the doors is nice, but not necessary.

I will be. I love the app and the remote start. I use it daily. Also have an iphone shortcut on my phone. I push one button on the front page of my iphone and it opens the garage and starts the truck every AM that way it can warm up before heading out. I also use it on my walk to the truck after work. I start it about 5-10 min before getting in.

Yes because no one is already gathering and selling your history from your phone. Well I guess in less you still have a flip phone or one of these.

Right? Paying Toyota to collect your data to pass it to your insurance company to raise your rates lol.

I'm not sure the app has anything to do with the transfer of data. Your truck is connected with AT&T cell service. That's why I can start the truck a hundred yards away, using the app on my phone.

Likewise, I'm thinking they are collecting the data, no matter if you are paying for the privilege or not, even if you opt out.

I used the app alot and like it. For my son's 2023 off road I did pay like $90 for the year of remote app control. That 7.50 a month and you can pay it all at once. That was about the limit I would pay. Not doing $15 a month or $180 a year. It is not worth that price to me.
