shouldn't have thrown codes, the fuel system & sensors should have adjusted for the extra air, adding more fuel to adjust....
just like if your in fact restricting airflow now, the system will sense that & compensate in a bad way...
just cuz its not throwing a light, doesnt mean its not leaning out...
I’m not restricting air flow, the second opening allows just as much, if not more than the snorkel. I assume Toyota did this to allow people to completely blocked off the snorkel. It’s obnoxious. Unfortunately, too much air is a problem for some of the hybrids since I’m not the only one who had code issues with a CAI.

How's the car running. Any issues so far? I just purchased a TH and am interested in doing something similar to reduce noise.

No issues other than less than expected mpgs: 16/18. I’m only just over 1k on the odometer.

Has anyone tried replacing the scoop at the top of the intake with a cyclone filter cap or something like that? I don’t have the snorkel on my Tacoma, but I was thinking of having one installed at some point down the line.
I wonder if that would make any difference with the sound.
I'm trying to do something similar. I've got the lower rubber cap removed and tried to insert an inflatable toy ball into the top of the snorkel and aired it up. It's blocking most of the air, but now I'm worried it'll deflate over time and go into the air box. I really only want the snorkel noise gone for road trips with the surf-wife, but I'm not sure what I'm proposing is a real solution.

Surf-wife? You in SD?

Best solution I've seen so far might be to install the air box from the pro and completely block intake from snokel. Would render it useless but I belive the installl/removal is somewhat easy/quick.

Lol, no not in SD...

Yeah, I'm hoping to be able to use it when she's not in the rig... That turbo noise is too fun!

Gonna try a plumbing balloon test plug. It's got a loop that I can mechanically fasten to a zip tie to the louvers of the snorkel.
