2024 TH. < 4K miles. I understand that this part of any car seat wears out over time - due to sliding in and out. It's difficult not to 'slide' into a seat and not rub. My last car (STI) had the same wear pattern, but it took YEARS to show up. It has only been a few months...

Anyone else seeing the same wear signs on their softex?

That does not look like normal wear and tear to me, more like a defect in the material. I slide over the bolsters in my truck to some extent, because it is hard to avoid. But my seats have nothing going on like yours do.

I think you need to talk to your dealer. That is crazy wear for such low miles.

I had a Prius Prime with Softex and that was over 7 years old when I sold it and the seats looked like the day I got the car. I would say defect in material and have dealer look at it.

not seeing wear in the same area with my softex, but dealer suggested I add a strip of cloth or foam strip to junction where seat and plastic at side of seat meet (for when sliding in and out of seat). Has been helpful so far. Of course, shouldn't have to do it in the first place...

@VermontTaco I just looked at that same place on my seats this morning. It is perfect with nothing at all like what you have. That is not even the area where you would expect wear from getting in and out.

So I say it is a manufacturing defect and it is on Toyota to replace that seat skin.

13k miles and it still looks like the day I got it, and I'm fat (270). Take it in, it's a defect.

Interesting that they suggested that. Could you send me a pic of the strip and what you used? Thanks

Good feedback - thanks everyone. I certainly think its a defect. Will talk to the dealer and let you all know what they say.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised the dealer suggested that. unfortunately, no pics yet as I'm out of state this week. it's just a thin strip of foam I wedged between the side of the seat and the plastic piece on the side. can't even see it as it's below the plastic piece.
