Your user name makes perfect sense now. 😂. Best of luck!
Thanks I was trying to come up with one. God's gift to woman's tacos, manliest man tacos, stud muffin 24/7 and dadbod tacos were either taken or not permitted by admin lol I wonder if ChuckNorrisTaco is available.......

I've been looking at spares as well. I'm on 285/70s like you.

I found that 255/75 are closer in size (smaller about 11mm) and MUCH cheaper.

Interesting. According to the tire comparison site the 285/70r17 is 32.71" and the 255/75r17 is 32.06", or .65" (2%) smaller. The 255/80r17 I bought is 33.06" or .35" (1.1%) larger.

Honestly, you could very well be right. I'm sure individual tires can vary by manufacturer regardless what the "standard" specs are, and it could be that my little tire comparison tool isn't accurate as well (or maybe I'm just missing something). Regardless, if you're satisfied with your choice then that's all that matters and the fact the 255/75 is cheaper is certainly compelling.

I was using willtheyfit.com. Yeah as you say there are subtle differences in tires based on tread and the like.

I got the local Discount tire to match the Giga tire price on some Bridgestone A/Ts 144 + plus install and tax. Discount will also take the oem spare in as trade for a few bucks off.

I’m going to try and put in a 255/75 R17

I have 275/65 R18 summers and 255/70 R18 winters. All 32.1” diameter.

Seems like that will be perfect for a spare and will fit under the truck, no problem.
