I’ll try the spare tire switch to see if changes. I’m thinking of attaching my GoPro to undercarriage to see if the drive shaft is vibrating. Arghh

I know what you’re going through … my last truck was a 23 tacoma and I spent hours and hours and days weeks under that truck trying to find the reason for the rough idle and vibrations. Day I traded it in was such a relief

Did you ever figure out your vibration? I have a 2024 off road and it's vibrating too at 90kph and up.... I'm thinking a bad cv or ujoint possibly. I didn't have any vibration for 6000 kms. I think it started after i put it in 4wd for the first time, and that wasn't hard off roading, just wanted to make sure it worked on a sand trail.

Mine was fine until I installed new shocks, only lifted the front 1.5 inches. Anyhow the vibration goes away when in 4hi. Same problems with gen2 and 3 also the same 8 in clamshell from diff. It’s a shame Toyota didn’t fix this with its 4th gen!!! Just search Tacoma ECGS. I have the bushing and install kit and will be installing it next week.

2024 TRD Off-Road LB
TRD Off-Road with 6 ft bed. Experiencing vibration between 45-50mph and over 62mph. Have taken it to the dealership twice. They rebalanced wheels/tires. They did a road force variation test and ended up replacing the two rear tires under warranty but the vibration didn't go away. Then they tried to say that it was because I put the 18" TRD wheels on with 265/70/18 tires. I reminded them that they installed those, that the tires were the OEM size for the TH and Pro, and that I wasn't the first person to put (slightly) bigger wheels/tires on a truck. Then they said that 10-ply tires are stiffer so that's where the problem is coming from. I called BS again. After some pushing the service manager took another TRD OR LB off the lot with stock wheels/tires and experienced the same vibration. He called it an "intrinsic vibration" with this model.

I called Toyota and they have opened a case. They were supposed to follow up today but didn't. I'l call them again on Monday. I have also filed a complaint with the NHTSA. Depending on what Toyota says, I will bring in it for service again and, if they can't resolve the issue then, it will qualify for my state's Lemon law and then that fun process will begin.

And to head off some of the common comments/advice/criticisms I've seen on threads like these :fingerscrossed::
- I know it's a truck and drives differently - that's not the problem
- I've owned two other Tacomas (2018 TRD Pro and 1992 Taco)
- I've owned other trucks (Silverado, F-150, Tundra)
- In fact, I've owned a lot of vehicles...27 to be exact...so I have a good idea of what's normal and what's not
- The vibration is not in the steering wheel, it's the whole truck
- The vibration consistently occurs at those speeds and goes away below them. It's easy to track because it rattles the hell out of my metal water bottle in the cup holder.

Wanted to share my experience. I will update this as things develop and am interested in hearing about anyone else's experience with anything similar.

Yeah, I believe you and that is nowhere near normal.

The Pro and TH are just Off-Roads with stuff added, so saying those tires won't work on your truck is complete bs. My Pro runs fine with those wheels and tires and it has zero "intrinsic vibration".

God, the bs from dealers about our trucks is epic - if one lie doesn't fly just trot out the next one until the customer gives up and leaves.

Let me know if you ever get it sorted out, mine is doing that too but maybe not as bad as yours

I’m with you. Mine has a vibration around 65 to 70+ mph. And it isn’t constant so I don’t believe it is a balance issue.

Now I am wondering about other tire causes of this vibration, besides balance. I had a set of Michelin tires on my Tundra that would have a nasty vibration sometimes and sometimes not. The tires balanced out just fine, including road force balancing. The suspension was fine and in spec - imagine a Toyota dealer not wanting to fix something if they could find it! All the dealers would suggest is take it back to the people who mounted and balanced the tires. They said, nope, the tires are fine.

I eventually figured out that the tires flat spotted really badly. If it had been parked for very long and if the weather was cold the truck was terrible to drive. Later on I would notice that it was smooth as glass. So I'm wondering if people with this problem can tag it to certain driving conditions that might explain it, when nothing seems to be mechanically wrong with their truck?

intrinsic vibration=New words I learned on my morning drive to work.

If the vibration were truly intrinsic, Toyota’s design and testing processes would have identified it as a model-wide characteristic; all vehicles of the same model would exhibit the issue.

Confirmation bias at its finest.

Intrinsic vibration was also the reason the wings of Lockheed Electra's failed in the 1950s. Somehow, I doubt these are the same issues.

I’ve had the flat spot issue before on these tires and others on different vehicles, which smooths out when the rubber warms up. I’m leaning towards a tire issue causing my vibration even though I’ve had it back to the tire shop and balance rechecked. I only feel that way because the All Terrains didn’t do it, or I just didn’t notice, which is doubtful. 🤨 However, with it being intermittent, I worry it’s the drivetrain. I’m at the dealer now for my 5000 mile service. I brought that up as well as the fuel tank issue and they will have to have my taco overnight, which doesn’t work for me right now. Maybe next week.
