Using on board cameras to record drives / "sentry" mode?

OKAY... so starting this thread for those more informed or deeper into these weeds.
Yes, one can install an aftermarket (or the OEM) dash cam, but some of these trucks are equipped with upwards of a half a dozen cameras.
These all feed at any time into the screen on the dash... one could imagine that the process is not within the screen itself and is a separate computer. Thus, could one not design an adapter that just plugs in-line (think "extension cord with a splice") between the computer and the screen to tap into those image feeds and save them off onto a robust SD card.

then, randomly browsing the parts listing of the Tacoma on Toyota's site, I came across the following... having me all the more curious if this already exists:
SD card, SD card holder, Camera drive recorder, computer assembly drive recorder, manual electric multi-vision, integrated dashcam service

Tossing this out there for the smarter/savvier to latch onto
