You should try using the fuelly phone app for a couple of months of fill-ups. Then youā€™ll know for sure.

If you drive it really slow youā€™ll get that 20 plus but letā€™s face it that turbo is hard to not let loose

Are you only going off of the trucks computer? My first fill up, the truck showed like 19 and the hand calculated mileage was actually 22.7. It hasnā€™t been close, so I donā€™t even look at that anymore.

Iā€™ve been sitting right around 17mpgs for the first few weeks of having the taco. 285/75/18. Strongly considering different wheels to add some personality to her but that probably wonā€™t help.
maybe they were onto something w the air dam? šŸ˜‚

Traffic, speed, and driving habits? Also watch your Boost gauge, keep it under 7.5lbs. Itā€™ll improve a little after about 2-3k miles? Also turn off the PDA in the mid screen!

16 seems really low. ECO mode? Winter blend fuel also takes 1-2 MPG off. Furthermore running 87 octane reduces efficiency because the ECU pulls timing. My personal best MPG tank was running premium grade and summer blend.

My SR5 floats around 20-21 mpg. Had to drop it off at the dealership for some paint touchup and they gave me a TRD as a loaner and I noticed it's only averaging about 17 mpg.

I've had mine about a month and have been sitting under 14 MPG until this week when it crept up into the 16s. I don't drive aggressively and took the air dam off right away but MPG has been really poor so far.

My Sport was reporting the same mileage. I started calculating the mileage by hand and got better results. I have been using premium fuel lately and my mileage improved greatly. Freeway driving at 75 mph yielded 25 mpg. The few extra cents is definitely with it. Plus the vehicle seems to be more responsive when you get into the throttle.

I be ripping mine pretty decent. I get 22. I donā€™t do any eco. 23 mpg was the best but that was eco when I got it 6 months ago. Still not the best mpg but

Ya without calculating and using the trucks analysis. It took mine couple weeks to avg. in the 20ā€™s. Hell maybe even a month. Idk but it did take decent amount of time to show in the 20ā€™s

You should be getting way better than 16, but when I first got my truck it took the computer a while to adjust to the final numbers. Can't remember exactly how long though. I have a bunch of stuff on mine (rock sliders, lone peak camper, 270 awning, bed molle panel) and I am averaging a little over 17 city driving in hilly Seattle currently. Before I put everything on I was averaging close to 22/gal. Defintely try calculating the mileage yourself to see what you're truly getting.

Aerodynamics seems to be the biggest factor.
Here is my experience on a recent trip Cincinnati - Aspen
Factors '24 Sport w manual trans - all highway driving.
Numbers hand calculated at each fill up. In some places in mountains regular was 85 octane so I went with midgrade 88 or 89 which were both tanksfulls that got 20+mpg but also running in much thinner air which reduces drag.
Air dam in place, Diamondback 270 bed cover w Thule 615 Ski Carrier mounted on bed cover on linear bearings to allow hatch access.
Go Rhino RB20 Slim side boards, 24 Trailhunter lightly used wheels/tires BF Goodrich TRAIL-TERRAIN T/A 265 70 17.
Mileage on this trip varied quite a bit depending on speed, headwind and altitude/climb.
Overall trip average was 18.6mpg. Could probably have got 20 if I was closer to speed limits.

21.4 Cinci to Indiana - some wet roads - no wind running 80
17.6 Illinois - running 80-85
17.7 Missouri running 80-85
17.4 Kansas running 80-85 slight headwind
16.7 Colorado running 80-85 butmore headwind and uphill to Denver
20.8 Denver to Aspen 5 stops in Denver, big climb, running 70-75
21.3 Running around in mountains 65 - 70
21.2 Back down and through Denver
17.3 Kansas - 80-85 no wind
17.6 Missouri running 80-85
17.5 Illinois - running 80-85
18.9 Indiana - home 80-85 Not sure why I get better mileage in final leg across Indiana both coming and going - might have been a tailwind coming home,

but the first leg out is a mystery why I got so much better - roads were wet half the leg. Tire friction?

Air dam doesn't do a thing.

@dvazquez I honestly would not worry about it. These things fluctuate a bunch. You will get all the hyper milers claiming they are getting 30 etc etc. There are plenty of us that just drive normal and we are getting 18-20. As mentioned above each tank can fluctuate 2 mpg easy. Removing the airdam did nothing pos or neg. Adding the bed cover also did nothing. adding a level kit did nothing. Before and after all those mods I can still get 18.0 and sometimes I can get 20.0 pure tank. 10K avg is 18.3.
