I know you posted a pic, so this is going to sound really dumb, but where exactly do you lubricate? Do you spray right on to the plastic or into a towel first and apply?I have no idea how it made so much noise. I thought it was my suspension clunking. Just try it… takes 30 seconds to see if it resolves your issue
I wonder if putting some adhesive weather strip on it would fix it permanently?I clean the plastic and hood area that contact each other with a damp rag. Then I spray the lubricant onto a rag and wipe it across the plastic edge that makes contact with the hood. I use 303 aerospace protectant bc that’s what I had laying around and it works. The noise goes away instantly and comes back after about every other car wash.
I think it is the grit of the dirt and the friction of the hood slightly flexing that causes the noise. You’ll notice the rag will be pretty dirty when you wipe it off.
Yep, gone. I would’ve wrestled with this forever and probably tried to trade the truck in when I couldn’t find it…. Thank you so much dude!I’m guessing the sound went away? I just make cleaning it part of the vehicle washing process and haven’t had an issue in months.
