My issue is that the math ain't mathing. 18 gallon tank at 16.2 is 292 miles to E. My gauge is showing 159 to E. I just topped it off with 5 gallons before that pic. Not sure if there is a steep learning curve for the system or what. Truck has 1750 miles on it.

The gauge is super conservative - it’s not accurate

Alright I did some field work today. Drove from mountain home to Salmon then salmon down to sun valley (45psi. dealer specs.) Keep in mind all reports are comprised of mountain passes, river valleys, open country, and speed corridors.

Filled up and aired my tires down to 33psi. note the estimated mpg in the tank.
Drove sun valley to Mountain home on cruise control 70mph the whole way.

Sooooo. I'm getting good mileage and the system knows it. Gas tank is reporting 330 range instead of the 300 when first purchased. Airing down definitely helped the ride in both comfort and mpg. Regardless though, this thing is running like a top and I didnt do anything.

I'm convinced the system needs to learn or atleast get broken in. Ive also been putting in premium, turbo 4bangers from japan need the good stuff even if the manual says mid grade.

And it was great meeting you today.
It was good to meet another person in Idaho with a 4th gen. I see them on the road, not on the forums though. Looking forward to installing the sliders tomorrow.

I had an issue once after filling up when I left my radio running. Gas gauge didn’t reset for about 10 miles. Since then I’ve made sure to turn the power completely off while filling.
I’m pushing 8k miles and my last couple fill-ups were the furthest I’ve driven on a tank since buying. Hoping the trend continues:)

I'll be headed to Challis this spring for a bear hunt. I should have moved there 15 yrs ago as planned. Love the Frank Church Wilderness.

I was really hoping that this wasn't going to be the case. Part of my justification for buying a gasser vs a diesel was the cheaper cost per mile due to fuel prices. My Audi ran like a top on non ethanol fuel but it's the sane as disel locally, 4.50 ish a gallon

I am also running premium. Truck likes it more, I can tell. My understanding is the ECU adapts and you get less pinging and more power.

You should be fine running the recommended octane. I'm just cautious with my engine since it's the first of a new gen.

159mi range on full is insane. I don't think I've seen anything less than 280mi on mine. I'd call that one in if it does continue to happen.
