Have you tried turning it off yet? I turned my fake engine noise off, thinking I might like driving my truck better without it. It did lower the sound level a little, but the sound was pretty nasty without any enhancement. Kind of rough and gutless IMO.

In the Tundra they add the sound to make the V6 sound more like the old V8. In the Taco they added sound to make the I4 sound like a V6. After one day of driving it without the enhanced sound I turned it back on and left it there.
Iā€™m driving it in off right now. The TRD muffler back pipe improves the exhaust tone slightly. But yes it is not a nice sounding engine without the lower tones.

Although the wife votes to leave it off, Iā€™ll probably end up turning it back on as well.

That is it exactly - the enhanced, throaty, lower tones of a larger engine make all the difference, at least to me.

I also agree that it would be cool to have an easier way to change it. Maybe off in Normal and Eco, and on in Sport?

That would be cool. Thatā€™s how my C7 Corvettes worked.

I haven't gotten it yet but this is the setting that I really want to change:

Locking: Smart Key
Touch-to-unlock-doors minimum duration
Off / Short / Medium / Long

I hate the sometimes delay when I tap the lock on the door handle. Although, reading this again, I wonder if the setting changes how long I have to hold the door handle before the doors lock/unlock, rather than that delay after I tap and before I hear the doors lock.

Turning off the fake engine noise sounds interesting too.

Does it matter whether I get the Carista OBD or the EVO? It doesn't look like it matters for Toyotas.
The Evo is supposed to be faster, but I didn't see much of a difference., if at all. I had tried them both.

I turned off the fake engine noise. I like it better off. Much more quiet. I turned off the seatbelt chimes except for the front passenger as my father never puts his seat belt on and I want him to feel the pain. I'm taking one for the team on that one. I enabled the window roll down feature. I turned up the heater by 1 degree, however, i turned it back to stock settings after hearing a loud screeching fan noise when running the front defrost on high speed at full heat. Turning it back to default fixed the issue. I turned the mic sensitivity to 8 so i can talk at a normal volume on the phone.

MOST IMPORTANTLY I TURNED UP THE VOLUME TO SPEAKERS FROM 3 TO 8 AND COMPLETELY FIXED the low volume of my stereo that everyone is complaining about and installing a 3rd party tuner for.

@Deedzterz Good info - thanks. I completely missed being able to individually change the speaker volumes when I used my Carista. Which speakers are 3-8?

I donā€™t think I noticed that option, can you show screenshots so I donā€™t need to spend $20 to check šŸ˜‚

I did the subscription for a year so I could have it all sorted out and then I will cancel it. If it was cheaper I would keep the subscription going, but I think it is kind of expensive.

If you google a bit I think you can find a YouTube video or a photo of the carista menu. Later today or tomorrow I will plug it in and grab screen shots.
