Has anyone found a way to disable the center JBL speaker? I test drove a Tacoma with the JBL system and it sounded like the center removable speaker over powered the front door speakers. I'm no audiophile but it made the soundstage seem off to me. Anyways, can the speaker wires be disconnected to the center speaker? I was able to disconnect the center speaker in my F150 by just unplugging the wires in the dash. I'd still like the charging function to work if possible, but not sound.

Could tape over the connectors and keep it installed but it wouldn’t connect? Eventually the battery would die and that might not be the best thing

Another question...can that speaker be charged other than in the dock in the dash?

Yeah, I noticed the same thing in my TRD Sport. I thought maybe the rear speakers were not working until I sat in the back seat. They were on, but being down low on the door and firing into the carpet and seats, they get over powered by the front dash speaker. I tried the sound leveler thing, but it didn't help. One solution would be to convert the rear headrests to speakers, so they'd be up high and firing to the front.

Just hit the eject button and it will disconnect or take it out completely. And yes the speaker can be charged out of the dock by usb c. I am no audiofile by any means, but the system sounds better to me with it than without it.

I wish the volume control on the dash speaker worked while it was in the car.

Can’t adjust the fader to the rear to tweak the sound?

factory fade sucks on the stock head unit.
I faded back thinking it would liven-up the sub performance, killed everything..
sad!

That’s disappointing. I was hoping to not have to modify the audio… guess I’m looking at adding an amp, speakers and possibly a EQ. Sucks

im on the fence. i want to mod the system budget permitting, not much room behind the seat, not sure I want to lose under deating storage even though im not putting a bunch of stuff in the truck.
dont want to spend $300 on the beatsonic just to think its not enough,
im is san diego & trying to meet up with "redhead jess" as she has one,
would love to listen before pulling the trigger, but thats been challenging, she across town....
Not like we know each other which im sure is another issue.

The center JBL speaker was a little too much, I just adjusted the midrange down a couple clicks and it is much better. The dash speaker is heavy on mids, so that is what worked for me.

I turned down the EQ ia couple clicks in the stereo menu.
