Welp, it was my turn. It's not like I didn't know it was going to happen. The error switches between grill shutter malfunction and drive-start control malfunction. Truck has 2,800 miles on it.

They can take their time fixing it, my loaner is a new Tundra Limited.

Sorry about that man. Like you said its just a matter of time before us early birds have to deal with this issue. I just hope shutter number 2 doesn't fail. Surely they wouldn't replace a bad part with another eventually bad part would they!!?!

Nice score on the rental!

Do all 2024 Tacoma models have grill shutters?

I have an odd feeling it's the same old part. I've heard it's caused by a non watertight connector, I wonder if the connector burns out the entire unit and they're replacing it with the same part but waterproofing the connector this time around.

How on gods green earth are you getting loaners, much less a shiny new Tundra loaner lol. My local dealer will probably personally escort me around before handing over a loner.

I've been told on multiple occasions no loners what so ever unless it's warranty work before performed or the diag is going to take more than a day.

I mean, it's the grill shutter error that people have already been through. If the dealership needs to keep your only vehicle for multiple days, they have to give you something to drive. I simply requested a truck, and this is what they gave me 🤷‍♂️

This is a concern of mine also, I don't want to ride a merry-go-round of grill shutter errors.

I can only hope to get a truck for my loner too, I'll be jumping over the moon if it's a Tundra. Has your part come in yet? I was given a 3 week lead time, almost three weeks ago lol. Hopefully soon.

The dealership never mentioned a part, or how long this would take. I believe they know about the issue though because my truck was simply parked out back and left.

I have new rock sliders being delivered any day now, and it will be kind of a bummer to not have my truck around to put them on.

The dealership called me today and said the part they need for my shutter malfunction isn't available right now in the US, and that they're getting it from Canada. They'll be keeping my truck until some time next week.

If it is the connector for the actuator, it is not watertight...you can see it if you look down in the center of the grill shutter there is an opening because the actuator is in the center. About 6 inches down you can see the top of the connector with the wires going down into it. I got a long q tip swab and packed the top of the connector with dielectric grease. Don't know if if will help, but we will see. I also dabbed a bit around the connector seams in the front of the grill.

Here is a picture of the connector.
