Child Car Seat Capacity in 2024 Tacoma?

Hey guys,

if anyone has the chance to measure the backseat of a Tacoma and get how many inches from the rear passenger seat back to the back of the front passenger seat, it would be really awesome, I’m trying to find out the dimensions for a rear facing car seat for my newborn for when she gets here in June. Or if someone has a car seat and could take it to the dealership and see how it fits behind the passenger, that would be so awesome!


Any help/comments from people is also welcomed!

Almost zero difference from a 3rd gen. Plenty of research already on it.

Yup that's a Graco extend2fit. More room in front compared to my Jeep Wrangler which isn't saying much. But I'm 6' and felt fine sitting up front. It's not where I would usually ride but I had leg room and was comfortably inclined. In my Jeep I am too upright and feel too close to the dash.

I owned a JKU Wrangler and had a huge Clek Flo car seat in the back. The front room was OK but definitely could be cramped for taller drivers. If the new Taco is roomier with the same car seat installed (and it looks to be) then I'm satisfied.

Thank you for the photo, certainly gives me a perspective for the passenger leg room. Any chance you can take the same one with the Graco behind the driver seat, because twins =)?

If it wasn't for oil and air filter changes, you could weld the hood shut on those old 4.0L V6 engines...

Our first is due in June and we got a Chicco Keyfit 35 rear facing car seat. The only practical place to put it with my wife in the passenger seat is in the middle back using seat belt mount.

The first two pics are the planned mount config. The second two show the seat mounted behind the passenger seat and the front leg room that remains…no bueno.

Those rearward facing seats are such a pain. It's a good day when they get old enough and you can face them forward.

Unless things have changed the safety orgs recommend the child seat be in the middle anyway. Would be nice if toyota had supplied anchors for the middle seat though instead you have to use the seatbell system.

It's been about 8 years but with my grandsons, my daughter said that the recommendation was to use the seatbelts instead of the anchors. I don't recall what the problem was with the anchors.

Indeed! I don’t get why we can’t have center anchors…
