Some Tacomas are getting a spray in bed liner on top of the composite at the port. I have had two Tacomas with composite beds and there is no need for that, and I have read that it does not stick all that well to the bed material. All you really need is a bed mat, because the composite beds are...
@YourOnlineHero glad the speaker was there - is your seat air pump in the glove box?
I agree about the truck. I have driven a lot of different trucks and this is the nicest one so far for me. I also agree about the wait being worth it. I have an appointment for PPF install in about 10 days...
Your truck looks beautiful - Congrats! I can't stop going out to look at mine and you are right, it looks badass and drives like a dream.
My truck has the JBL speaker and yes, it is standard. You need to follow up with your dealer on that, but on the bright side, some people think it sounds...
Yeah - that is a good choice. The tires on my Pro are only about 1/2 covered by the factory flaps.
I am adding RCI sliders, which will provide some protection and also getting PPF on the rear fenders. If that is not enough I will get better flaps like @ridetime has.
Thanks for posting the pictures @MT-Taco. They look good and I love the protection in a parking lot as well as on a trail. I think that there will be a lot of the Pro rocker protectors being sold soon.
I ordered mine about a week ago and the wait begins. :)
@YourOnlineHero I ordered those last week too. I like the smooth, clean look of these and I want sliders, not what came on our trucks.
BTW do you have your truck now?
The bolts are a nice touch, but getting those ugly visor stickers off is epic. I have given up on other vehicles because they usually leave the visor material damaged. It looks like this is doable on a 4th gen and I will have to check this out.
So you are only really covered by this if you have at least one stored code referenced in the TSB.
Any other shifting issues, such as harsh sifts are still up to the dealer to check into or ignore as they wish.
Mine started showing an estimated availability when it was in transport. My truck stopped showing an estimate when it was about 5 days away, which was probably when it got to the port. No idea if that is normally how it works however.
A dump and fill might help but it might not. Toyota being conservative would probably prefer to just change out the affected transmissions and be done with it. If the percentage of failures gets very high they will do a recall like they did with the Tundra engines. If they don't it will mean...
@SonoranSurvivalist Yeah - I think you are right on all of that. I will try to get a picture with more direct light on the top hat for comparison, and I still haven't looked at an OR. The OR is a very capable off road truck and Toyota needs to fix that problem as soon as possible.
That was what I was thinking too, although I have not yet looked closely at other trims. I will do that the next time I am at my dealer. I have not read about this failure in any THs or Pros so maybe I am OK.
If I can get a better picture I will post it.
This part has been known for a while, and it is not a design flaw. When Aisin cast the torque converter bodies some of them were not properly cleaned, leaving casting debris inside. That was picked up by the transmission fluid in the torque converter and migrated into the transmission. In the...
Those look great, and better than some commercial ones I have seen. It takes some time to do pretty welds like the OP did. I can weld but it never looks like that!
I ordered RCI sliders and they are 74 pounds per side, so you beat them.
Nope - only Toyota knows and they ain't talking.
But I think it is still a pretty small number, even if you are included in the TSB. If your truck is currently working fine I say drive it, enjoy it and worry about it if it breaks.
Good call. If your dealer does not take care of you that is your best option.
I have always been told that manufacturers pay less for warranty work than what they charge customers, which is why they blow you off when they can. A good sign that you did not find a good dealer IMO.
