I don't know... First of all, you can easily get the GM Twins into the 60K range with options, and the material quality, etc.. are not the best. Not to mention, the 23 is a brand new, unproven engine that is a 2.7l 4cylinder tuned out to the max (So much so that GM extends to warranty to 100K because people were nervous). A Ranger Lariat comes in at right around the same price (and specs) as a Tacoma Limited. To be fair, we don't know where the TH or TRDPro is going to start price wise. I'm sure you'll be able to option them out to some pretty high numbers. Now, if dealers would stop adding ADM, etc... to these vehicles we'd be in a better place.
GM has been using the same 2.7L in their full size trucks since 2019...not brand new or unproven.

Reached out to a local Lexus dealer about a 2024 GX550...They agreed to MSRP and estimated arrival about May for a base Premium trim (my requested trim). If I'm gonna go 60k+ I think that's the route I'm taking.
Iā€™m certainly going to investigate that option too. Iā€™d like to see it with the hybrid which might be a couple years out, but I donā€™t need to be in a rush.

My choices are easy, there arenā€™t any at this level. No option to skip the moonroof/sunroof which I usually do. Just pick a color (I like the bronze if not underground). Still waiting to see what they hybrid prices out at up here, but if if it comes in at $65K it could be a compelling choice.

For comparison, there are more choices to make on the Ford side, but this is with every floor mat & FX4 (which the taco doesnā€™t have on the limited I donā€™t believe). The 2.7 shouldnā€™t bump up the Ranger price too badly once available, so hoping that yes, the limited hybrid will come in at about $65K here.

The prices are high, but that is the market. Toyota will sell every one of those they can make. To be fair, you can get an SR5 which is probably better equipped than a 5 year old Tacoma for a decent price. The public demands more and more features and gets shocked when prices get super high. Are they making a good profit? Of Course. That's why companies exist. They don't owe anyone an affordable Tacoma, though there are some. As Trucks stop being work trucks and start being luxury status vehicles, the companies will oblige. Look at the prices on Full Sized Trucks. The same exact F150 that I bought in 2021 for 49K now sells for almost 70K. People pay and they sell.
Tacoma's are not affordable, LOL.

I'm curious to see if they will sell out or not for this new gen. I know they did well with previous gens but for 2024, everything else have been gaining a lot of attention too, example; new coloradao, new ranger, and new maverick.

Yes, imo the previous gen ranger and colorado did look ugly and for 2024 they improved in appearance (plus everything else too) while the new gen taco didn't as much.

Trying to build and order a 3G taco was the same way, wasn't much there for the high price. It was very easy to back out from.

@TacoTanium ..I know some gave you a hard time comparing the Tacoma to a Maverick but I seriously think there is alot of truth in what you are saying. I'd be interested to see data on what percentage of Tacoma owners actually use their truck for more intense off roading or for the heavier towing. I'd gamble that the vast majority of anyone believing they need a Tacoma would be served just fine with maverick. If you just like and want the Tacoma then cool that's fine but perhaps the more financially sound decision isn't as popular but some people don't like to hear that.

Anyways, I've been waiting for official pricing every since the new Tacoma was announced and I'm very disappointed. I almost went to put a deposit down last weekend with a Toyota dealer and I'm so glad I didn't. I'll keep driving my 18 year old Silverado, runs just fine. I'll let all the kids go buy the latest at MSRP+ market adjustments/dealer mark-ups. I think the move is too wait another year like someone else said.
Thanks, but I started to think it's not just a thing they don't want to hear, but more like it's a "Tacoma" fan thing. I used to be a fan until I test drove a 2G taco, and then go online and see how much a 3G taco cost, lol.

After you option up the Sport it so close to the Limited though. Seems like a better deal to just get it BUT I can't do the chrome lol
I could live with the grill....or maybe swap it out down the road. For me it is the mirror caps. Should be color matched.

I came up to the same cost. Though it doesnā€™t say the premium includes the moonroof, Iā€˜m guessing for now that it does. So at that point like you say then it really becomes an aesthetic choice as to whether you can do the chrome or not.

Actually the mirror caps from what Iā€™ve read are really easy to swap. I thought I saw them for 40$ or so

Exactly. You also get the HUD and the running boards. Iā€™m not sure if the suspension is different though. I thought one of the reviews I watched said the Limited has some tweaks that improved the ride.

I'd like you to be correct although, it simply states ac power inverter which I presumed 400 watts. It doesn't specify so I assumed if it were 2400 then they would have been more specific. That option I thought only worked with incorporating the hybrid battery pack and corresponding generator/alternator.
In the details section (at least as of yesterday) it specifically stated a 2400W inverter. It may have been an error, as I expected it to only be the 400W as well. I'm hoping that is where some of that $8600 premium package money went. I'll double check it again tomorrow.
