2024 TRD Off Road iforce Max Engine Noise When Accelerating - Concerning?

Hi Everyone,

I just bought my first Tacoma ever and am very excited about it but have recently started hearing a loud buzzing/rattling sound when accelerating. The truck has less than 400 miles on it and I've had it for about a week and just started hearing this noise yesterday. The noise happens between 1500-3000RPMs and can be heard from inside the cabin as well. I went from not hearing it at all when first purchased to hearing it every single time I drive it now as it's pretty loud. Is this something that I should be concerned about and should I take it to the dealer to get checked out?

I feel like I’ve heard that sound from my truck but maybe not as consistently. It’s a noisy fucking engine with a variety of notes. Tagging a fellow member who has had some odd noises as well.

If you’re not exactly sure what the issue is. I would visit the dealership. They might say it’s normal or actually try to fix the issue

I scheduled an appointment with the dealer to get this checked out. I'm curious what they'll tell me.

Thanks. I've seen some posts about others experiencing odd engine sounds and being told its normal by the dealer but i'm not sure if they are experiencing the same engine noise that I am. I wouldn't be concerned if it had been making it since I bought it, but the fact that it started doing this at around 350 miles and is now making these sounds constantly is odd.

You have a point. The fact that others arent hearing these sounds makes me worried about what could be wrong. I'll find out next week when it goes in to the service center.

TBH I don’t believe I’ve heard THAT one. But as others have said, this engine makes a ‘cornucopia’ of different noises!

Lol. Mine makes a weird clunking/dong sound after I turn it off. Not sure what it is. The sounds are just entertainment at this point. Not super concerned.

Can you pinpoint where the noise is being generated? To me, it sounds like something is reaching resonance.

Right - and a resonance that most trucks don't have is something to get checked out. It is even more strange that it did not always do that. It sounds like something is not properly attached.

I agree. At this point, I’d say it’s more of an annoyance than a concern.
