2025 Silver Trd or Paint issues

What to do? Took the rig to the dealership and they took several photos and document mileage. I only have 1,300 miles on it. Started noticing the paint is inconsisten. Really not sure what to request? Anyone else in the same boat? If so what was done? I’ve been told to request a new truck/buy back.

You can see “tiger” stripes. Paint is thinner in spots Creating stripes and blotchy spots on the side panel's. It’s hard not to get reflections but I think you can clearly see the paint issue.

What do you mean by inconsistent? I see reflections in your paint.
Looks like there's darker lines going across, I see what the OP is talking about. It should be covered as a factory error and I think requesting a different truck makes the most sense if the dealership can offer it

Picked it up in the rain. Then the truck sat while I was out of town for a bit.

So your dealer took pictures but has not said what they will do? I guess at this point it might be up to Toyota. Is it only on the hood or on the rest of the truck too? I would really not want a repaint on such a new truck, which I guess means a replacement.

the bed seems fine. I did have a friend of mine’s paint shop mic the paint with a paint calibration device and he said the paint level was all over the chart. Thin and thick all over. Said it may have been a repaint from shipping damage?

they looked at it last Wednesday. Hope to get some kinda plan soon. Probably going to have a corporate rep needed to start the ball rolling is my guess

So the dealer is required to disclose any shipping damage repaired by the dealer that exceeded a certain dollar amount. That amount varies by state law. If the damage happened at the factory and was corrected at the factory then there is no disclosure required. If the repair was done at the port then that also falls on the factory as the port is considered final point of assembly and would be a no disclosure needed.

I had a client car that didn’t show any signs of paint issues at the time that we delivered the car to him. After a few months of sitting in the sun the customer brought the car back to us and showed us mottling which appeared as spots or stains in the paint. The car was also silver which is hard to touch up. The mottling was from paint shrinkage where the metallic in the paint moved during paint shrinkage from the metal getting hot during sun exposure.

After filing a case with the factory it was discovered that shipping damage had been repaired and they did not disclose it because the vehicle was repaired at the port. The manufacturer ended up ordering a new vehicle for the customer and buying back the damaged vehicle.

I’ve got a different opinion. Having more layers of paint than normal by getting a repaint will last much longer.

Hmmmn..Very hard to beat the initial paint quality on bare metal unless you once again start from bare metal...port or dealers body shop are not going to do that...
