Air dam removal from my 2024 Tacoma - process & photos

I'm going to try cutting the dam down, then using a heat gun to flatten out a little to join up with the plastic felt plate. The plate is not going to make it through winter the way it is exposed right now.

@Blue Crush Taco do you have any plans to sell the air dam? I'd like to see if my OR can get better mileage with one. Can also trade the OR composite skid plates for it (you'd need the crossmember though)

I just picked up a TRD Sport and I'm considering taking off the chin scoop but I don't like the look of the Sport skid plate afterward. Looks like little air scoops. I went back to the dealer and looked at a TRD Off Road and saw that the skid plate on that has a lip at the front to reduce drag. It looks to be the same plastic/fiberglass material as the one on my Sport. It did not look like metal at all.

I've tried finding the part number for that plastic skid plate for the 24 TRD OR without any luck. I guess I'll just have to wait until people start modding their ORs to find one on the used market or maybe someone here can pull it out of their trash bin?

Here in Toyota country in Kentucky I have not seen one other Tacoma with it removed. I have to say I do not like the look with it at all.

Hi There, I do not plan on selling the chin spoiler. I will put it back on the truck if I decide to trade in on a different truck. Cheers

I don't even notice it. I'll keep it for the winter and possibly remove it during the warmer months.

I can confirm that with chin spoiler removed, a truck with Sport skid plate will get a significant howling wind noise that sounds like tire hum between 35 and 50 mph. You might think your tires are faulty. It's definitely wind moving through the front bumper or arms. Replacing the spoiler kills the noise. Apparently its the holes in the front A-arms according to this thread:

so replacing the spoiler or cutting down the OE spoiler seems like the right play.

The humming is coming from holes in, IIRC, the lower control arms. You can get some plugs that go into the holes and it will eliminate the humming
