Yeah. This was actually right outside my apartment. I was turning into our parking lot, and the other person ran the red light. You know the area here?
I’m in Lakewood. Let me know if I can help in any way. Glad you’re okay 🤝

Do you have any information as to how fast both the other driver, and yourself were traveling at the time of impact? Very curious. None the less, pre your comments -- you walked away. People have died from less of an impact, so I'd consider this a very fortunate experience despite the crash. None the less, hopefully you'll be feeling well soon. That's quite a shock to the body, of course.
I don’t know the exact speed he was going. But I was actually stopped at the moment of impact. There were other cars in that driveway I was pulling into, and one of them started backing up for unknown reasons. So I had to stop mid-turn. About a half second later, I experienced the impact. All the damage was due to the other truck’s movement as he blazed right through the red light.

I know how you feel. Back in the early 1980s, I purchased my first new truck. I was on my way home with it the day of the purchase, and a vehicle crossed the center line and hit me head on, totaling my truck with about 12 miles on the odometer.

Other than the trauma of a crash and any injuries, there’s that sickening feeling of watching a brand new vehicle destroyed.

Hope ya heal up and come out ok on the financial side.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience, and I'm glad to hear that you were able to walk away on your own. Here's hoping to a full recovery for you, be it physical, emotional, financial, etc.

Holy smokes. Like many have said, the truck can be replaced and will be replaced. Life cannot be replaced. Thankful you're ok! Onward and upward! Keep us in the loop.

Dang! And I thought 7000 miles was young. You must’ve been in such disbelief when that happened. But hey, someone could hit you on the way out of the lot too. It’s a crazy world out there!

Thank you everyone for all the kind words! This situation really taught me the value of people. All people. Not just family and friends. Because I’ve received a tremendous amount of support from complete strangers through this experience. As soon as it happened, I could immediately hear voices outside yelling to see if I was ok. Once I started opening the passenger door, a couple of guys were already there helping me get it open and giving me a hand climbing out. I was met by a crowd of people who were all very concerned, reminding me not to move around too much, etc. One lady in particular stayed with me the entire time, helping me gather all the info I needed from the other party and the cops while I was still in a daze. All of that, along with the positive words from everyone here on this forum. Everyone’s a stranger to me, but we are all human. We all share that in common. So while I don’t know any of you in real life, I’m seeing meaningful text typed out by actual people. There is a real person behind every message. I can’t see your faces, but I know you exist. That’s a powerful thing. So thank you all!

Well that makes two of us. Glad you walked away also. That's some great engineering going on with Toyota.
Mine happened August last year. I have neck and lumbar issues, but hey, I count my blessings.
Must be a crazy feeling when they come to a rest on its side after the crash.
Popped up dashboard speaker out of there when you go to the collision yard and get your things out of there. Don't forget your tie down swivels in the bed, that speaker and any possible thing that is yours because your insurance company will come and get it quickly.
I use my speaker for my laptop and it's excellent for that.

So mine never had the popout speaker. I think that’s a premium package add-on, which mine was not. Didn’t think about the tie-downs. Should’ve grabbed those. Honestly though, that tow yard operator was staring down my shoulder the entire time, and wouldn’t let me take even a fleck of paint off that vehicle. I really wanted the front emblem as a keepsake, but couldn’t even have that. Insurance is ruthless when it comes to these things. I’ve been with the same insurance company for almost 20 years now. The amount of money I’ve given them over the years is unfathomable. And they won’t even let me have a plastic emblem off a vehicle that saved my life. I even told them I’d be willing to buy the emblem. But nope! What a slap to the face as a loyal customer. Oh well! That’s the world we live in, I guess.

Diving now-a-dayS is exhausting. I have so many drivers swerving into me its ridiculous.
Seriously! People get way too comfortable driving. There’s road rage AND distracted drivers, both threatening our lives every time we hit the road. There should be a requirement that every vehicle be equipped with cameras facing the driver. So in a collision, you can see if they were texting, falling asleep, etc.

Just saw your post. What a nasty hit! Glad you made it out of that ok. What dash cam do you have? I’m literally going to buy one this week, and install it into my new truck before I even pull out of the lot next weekend. Might get one for the rear too.

That's the Black view DR 750 LTE 2 ch.
You definitely want a two channel DC.

I had a $10 a month plan on it so I could view live time anytime I chose to. It would send me messages if somebody were to bump into the truck or motion if I had it set to that.

I never really used it that much but I figure if I did that again I would just pay for the Wi-Fi for the truck and there are things like power pro or alternate methods for keeping it powered on until you hit a certain voltage or a certain time.

It's not the greatest for user-friendly but I decided I'll probably be moving over to the Garmin because they're very user-friendly for live views and looking at your stored videos.

I really like dealing with Black Box My Car who are also on Amazon.
I've used their tech service several times and their responses are the best of the best of the best.
I've emailed them with a question and literally waited for their reply to come back because I knew it wouldn't take long.
It's very easy to hide the wiring with a plastic trim tool and tucking it behind the headliner and then the rubber gasket by the door until you get under the dash.
There is a insert in the back of the glove box I took that out and hand fed my wires behind there to the USB-C ports. Did the same for my radar detector.
Good luck

Wow I would think the tow yard operator wouldn't give a rats ass what she took off the truck. It's not like he was gonna be able to sell it for parts.
The insurance company asked me if I had a second key fob when they called me to let me know what they were paying me for my truck. I told them I did not (because I didn't have it with me 😁)
I don't know if they deducted the price of a key fob from my total them amount due. The invoice never showed it.
