I have the same thing going on with my 2024 Taco also. Very annoying. Can you send a pic of how you used the tape for your bed cap? Does it bond well even though the edges of the cap is so thin?
You have to lift the bed cap up and you will see a white styrofoam block. I put the tape between the underside of the rail and that block. Be sure to put weight on it long enough to setup properly.

I have the same issue on mine. It's weird that Toyota didn't secure that point and just let it "rest" there.

Have you tried complaining w Toyota? I am still in the process of this. We shouldn’t have to fix it

Yeah, I submitted the Toyota online complaint form. We will see what they say. I also use Folsom Lake Toyota for service and was about to ask them about it, but after seeing what you went through with them I probably will get a similar response. Either way, I think I'll raise this issue regardless. I will be getting my first service done with them soon.

Thanks for the tip! I will check for that styrofoam block. During my quick initial inspection on the corner of the bed cap where it's lifting - I didn't notice any styrofoam block. Perhaps, I wasn't lifting it high enough. It's the exact same corners that TacoTacoBurritoBurrito pointed out.

I used a heat gun, on high heat constantly moving the gun then put a 25 pound dumbbell on top of it and kept it on there overnight

I’ll have to try that. How long did you blast it with heat? Did you concentrate the heat on just the corner or the entire end of the bed cap that’s lifted? Mine is lifted on the corners. Really triggers my ocd. Haha.

Had the same issue. Be careful with the Styrofoam block as it may be brittle and break. I took it off all together.

The problem is less with the adhesive and more about the retention clips. I used 3m and it still was lifting and I actually made it worse by messing with it.

I ended up putting a piece of dense foam I had laying around between the two sides of the retention clip to make it stronger. It worked really well and think it's is as flush as it can get.

I had the same issue on the mine as well except only on the driver's side of the bed. It was slightly irritating. I bought and installed the OEM tonneau cover. The frame of the bed cover actually holds the bed rail cap tight to the body, so that solved the issue. I'd say it's a very minor flaw, and if it really bothers anyone that much, some double sided tape should fix it pretty easily. Trying to get it resolved through a dealership is most likely to make the issue even more frustrating than anything else.

Well I went to the dealership yesterday to have it fixed in Louisville Kentucky and they called me when they were done and said it was my aftermarket tonneau cover. The man said the tech installed the new rails and they looked good but when he reinstalled the cover it started to gap again at the head of the bed. So I asked them to give me something in writing so I could go to rough country to see what they would do. I get to the dealership and they tried to charge me 200$. I wasn’t a dick but I was firm and said I wasn’t going to pay it. That everybody was having this problem. They said they had never seen it before. The manager came out who was a dick and had an attitude. They let me go without paying. But the way he was acting was making me feel like he was going to put some kind of crappy report in my service record and make it difficult for me in the future. So later that day I call trough country and they just deflect. To make matters worse the dealership reinstalled the cover wrong so needless to say I’ll have to take it off and reinstall it. And I’ll be taking off the bed rail caps myself and using sealed white oak blocks with either construction grade hot glue or the very thin 3m tape with no foam in it and I’ll fix it that way. It’s just frustrating that I’m no mechanic or body guy but I can fix it better than those “professionals “. Sorry for the rant just wanted people to know my experience for they’re own sake. I’ll update once I fix the bed rails
