Class action lawsuit filed for transmission issues

Strange to see something I posted to other Tacoma owners being quoted by the YouTube machine. I have seen that before but this is the first one for me. I am hardly a credible source, just someone with a truck he doesn't trust and far from alone.

I never watched this guy's stuff but decided to today. It took me a second to figure it out since I use dark mode and his was in white.

It was a decent take on the transmission issue - I didn't watch the Tundra part. No exaggerated claims or sky is falling stuff - he laid out the situation and said what we all know - that we just have to let it play out and see what happens.

I can't believe the dealer is giving you a hard time on that one. I'd try another or call Toyota. It's clearly not supposed to behave that way. Most of these service techs haven't seen enough of these yet to know how they're "supposed" to act. They get paid for the warranty work. They should just fix the damn thing. Lots of times rough shifting is just a software update.

The torque converter could definitely be the source of the contamination, but it could also receive contamination from the transmission itself. Torque converters are impossible to flush debris from, and nearly impossible for a transmission oil cooler to be completely flushed, that’s why when I sell rebuilt transmissions, we sell new radiators, that contain the stock trans oil cooler, or we bypass the oR trans cooler on the radiator and run an aftermarket trans oil cooler. I might put an inline trans filter on my return line when I install an aftermarket trans oil cooler with a fan on it, and hide it under the truck, lots of room with a non hybrid setup.

Something like this, just tap into the return line and wire up a temp sensor and a relay. Hose it under the driver’s side of the frame, under the cab, lots of room

Yeah, it can be mounted under the cab, horizontally, and a fan switch and a relay can be used, or a manual rocker switch as well… either way, with the fan mounted to it, it creates it’s own airflow/heat exchange!
