I used a rubber wheel to remove the OffRoad decals from the sides of the truck but there is some noticeable discoloration now if the sun hits it just right.

Trying to figure out if there is some residue left that I need to take off or if I stripped some of the exterior protection and just need to apply some wax.

Thanks

It is either a bit of residue left, or the clear coat is cloudy from over heating (friction from the rubber wheel)
I would try some adhesive remover first, just in case it is residue.
If that doesn't work, then go with MustardTiger's suggestion.
I always like to start with the least invasive method.

I would go with @MustardTiger's suggestion, but doing what @max911 suggests can't hurt anything and would clean off any debris from the rubber wheel.

You just have to hope that is damage to the clear coat and not areas where it is gone. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I used some GooGone but it didn’t make much of a difference. I’ll go with @MustardTiger suggestion. Worst case scenario, I’ll just put new stickers back and pretend like nothing happened :)

My body and fender guy says he doesn't use a buffing wheel on new Toyota's anymore. The heat can eat thru the water based clearcoat and thin paint to bare metal in 30 seconds. Be careful. (He also knows I'm more like a bull in a china shop than an artist.)

Hope it’s just a tad of residual adhesive… keep us posted.

I do find it interesting that some folks want to buy TRD stickers to put on non-TRD trucks, and some folks wanting to take the stickers off the TRD trucks.

not dissing, just an observation. I like the decals, but the hardware (locking rear diff) is more important to me than the software (decals).

Hitting it with the DA with mild compound and an orange pad seemed to do the trick. Thanks all. Likely won’t be doing this again in the future with the rubber wheel.

This is a couple hours after I cleaned up that section.

All is well looks good. I got lucky. Day one let sit in the sun. Peeled right off in 2 minutes no residue left but a little white piece my thumb rumbling got it up.

yeah that leave it out in summer sun works well for the badges as well but use some fishing line between the paint & badges , the fishing line cuts the adhesive like a cheeze cutter šŸ˜Ž

Congrats @thesmitz - that is great news. A Bronze Oxide Taco is really pretty, which makes any damage just that much worse. I bet a lot of people learned a lesson on that one.

I was impatient and after a week of no sunny days, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Learned my lesson.
