Hi everyone. I added a cap to my truck and didn't want to lose my cameras. I found this kit online. https://www.ggoffroad.com/store/p/digital-rearview-camera-relocation-kit-tundra-22-24-tacoma-24 and thought I'd give it a try.

It worked great. You have to be willing to pull down your headliner and remove some panels, but it's worth it in the end. The job took me several hours, but as one of the first, I had to adapt Tundra instructions to make it work. If I had to do it knowing what I know now, it'd probably take me around 3 hours.

If you're putting on a cap or a bed rack, this is a pretty good solution. The staff at ggoffroad.com is very helpful and answer questions quickly. I for sure recommend the product.

so my bed view camera is like mirrored now after the relocation. Does yours look like that? Maybe send a picture?

How possible is it to do this with a camper shell already installed? Access is pretty limited to the rear. My Tune camper has a window, but still not much room to maneuver the rear spoiler.

buy the camera and harness, that's what I did cause I wanted to be easily able to make it stock again. I may be selling a camera as I bought one that works fine but had a broken lock on the connector, I got a new one thinking that was the issue but it was the cable instead.

That's what I was thinking also. Looking at the space between the spoiler and my Tune, it looks impossible remove.
Let me know how much you want for the camera.

Are the 2 cameras (rear view mirror and bed) swappable (the connectors look the same)?

no they are completely different, you can save some money on the harness and get a tundra one too, thats what I did. I'd do $125 for the camera which is half price

Anyone having overheating issues with their redirected external rear view mirror camera? Mine is mounted on the back of my Tune, and when it’s sunny and hot (70+ degrees F), the mirror will flash black for a half second every few minutes. When it’s cooler out, zero issues (like all this winter it was fine). Does NOT seem to be bump/vibration related, definitely heat related. I saw this happen a week ago when it was 70’s and then this last week it was colder, and then today back warmer and it happened again after the car sat out in the sun for a bit.

I suspect this design soaks up the sun heat when the direct sun is on it, wonder if maybe one of those wireless ones would have been designed to handle the heat better…

Haven't had a chance to relocate, but this is a concern since it hits triple digits where I am. I'll report back if I have the same issue, especially since it's likely summer when I'll have time to attempt the relocation/install.

I had trouble with the relocated camera when it was on the bracket and pointed through the rear window of my Truck. It wasn't heat so much as it was the jostling around. I since did a permanent hole through mount on my cap. I'm working on a more robust design, but this has been great. I designed and printed these on my 3D Printer
