I've been keeping an eye on this, and reports confirm that no car carriers will be off-loaded, along with any other shipments. I'm really curious how Toyota will handle this, considering there's only so much space to store trucks at the port. Will they find alternative storage sites? How will this affect delivery dates going forward?

Deliveries will all be delayed considerably and likely on hold. Parking lots at the factory will fill and production could even slow? Unless Toyota changes to a land route avoiding the East coast ports. All based on how long the strike lasts? This strike is estimated to effect 5 billion $ per day of product!

This strike could ignite inflation again just as it was starting to cool off.

Biden will most likely not engage the Taft Hartley Act as he is pro union.

It will be interesting to how this plays out. The Longshoremen want a 77% pay raise, they declined 50%. I think the big sticking point will be port automation.

I’m never getting a pro, I’ve decided, unless they start actually delivering to Canada because of this

I figure as long as the strike continues is how much time I can add on to the waiting time for a bunch of parts I was told would arrive end of October mid November. This better not take weeks months.

The last offer had port automation off the table.

My spec “first use” date updated today which makes me wonder if my truck is now stuck in Jacksonville.

Of course mine just shipped today but I am able to afford this truck due to having a very strong union behind me. I hope they get what they deserve! :fistbump:

Let me get this straight. Toyota builds the Tacoma in Mexico then puts it on a ship and sends it to San Diego. In San Diego they put on a bunch of add-ons that most owners don’t want. When they are done, instead of putting it on truck to ship to the dealer, they put it on another ship, send it right past the factory in Mexico, through the Panama Canal then to East Coast ports to be unloaded from the ship and then loaded onto a truck to ship to the dealer. Does anyone think this is the best way to deliver a Tacoma? Please tell me that it isn’t really this bad.

No, that's not correct. East coast trucks go to Veracruz, loaded onto a ship then to various east coast ports where the overpriced options are installed.

Ahh, there a some common sense after all. My dealer had me thinking my truck was in San Diego. Instead it’s sitting at some East Port waiting to get loaded on a truck. I guess I’ll need to continue to wait.

Learn something everyday. I had no idea that some Tacoma trucks sold in the U.S. traveled on ships. I assumed they traveled either by truck or rail. Thanks for the info!

My truck is gonna need a transmission soon and I’m hoping it doesn’t fail before the strike ends. Could be months and months before the dealer can get a new one.
