And that's when I noticed the dash indicated the parking brake was set–I had not engaged it. I disengaged and drove out in 4 Hi.

File that one away.
Appreciate some info on this. Back in the day after driving in subfreezing temps on slush and snow I would not set the park brake (just put trans in park) because I had one freeze up after it sat for about twenty minutes along side the highway. This new technology of setting the park brake automatically concerns me as I don't want to have to deal with the issue again. Frankly I don't know if they even work the same as they did in the '70's. Any thoughts are appreciated.

It doesn't; that, of course, was an exposed mechanical device. In this truck, an electronic servo motor engages the rear brakes.

The truck is so good it's almost boring. I have had no ground clearance issues on angled terrain and barely a need to use any of the special features. I will say that the disconnecting swaybar is just awesome driving on super uneven terrain at low speeds. The same trails that used to violently move me side to side in my third gen, with this truck it is far more stable and the wheels just flow independently . I only really needed 4 hi a single time driving on a very muddy trail and getting stuck with my dad. We were on the way to one of his properties. He kind of freaked when the back wheels started to spin in a bad spot and we were way outside of cell phone range, and I said.. I got a ton of goodies at my disposal. Ended up only needing 4hi and popped out of it easy peasy. The truck just gets it done.
