This engine is a real gem, not surprised that it handles tuning well given its upgraded cooling and supposed “commercial grade” turbo.

Non hybrid, SXTH intake and Magnaflow exhaust here, next step tune. Does anyone have similar mods and have the tune? Assuming they have a different tune per modifications, looking to hear thoughts/performance from added mods.

Bernie,

That is MSRP for the calibration to be applied by our retailers.

Best,
Justin
What are the downsides of doing this tune? Why wouldn't Toyota just have all their trucks tuned this way?
I'm just trying to understand why they don't leave the factory this way if it is that much better?

Thanks

All manufacturers leave tolerance in an engine for reliability reasons among others such as emissions, MPGs, etc. The fact is that tuning your engine does require more diligent maintenance and typically higher octane gas. All tuning does come with increased risk of premature wear over the long term, however, most of that is negated with a proper tune and maintenance. Not everyone’s risk tolerance is the same.

Great answer thank you.

Planning to install an intake and exhaust. Is the OTT tune a one size fits all tune? Or will they specifically tune accounting for the modifications?

I have the same setup minus the magna flow (I have the AFE cat back exhaust instead). I got the most aggressive version and it works wonders. Eco is actually a usable mode, though I still don't really use it. Normal is like sport mode untuned and sport mode is quite literally touch and go!

If you added bigger tires, I feel like it's a necessity. The sluggishness the added weight from the tires provided is gone now for me.

Yep, 285/75 tires already on it...performance/MPG took a hit. MPG, don't really care, performance..UGH!

Our Stage 1 calibration is designed specifically for a stock truck running 87-93 Octane. That said, you can safely run intake, charge pipes, cat-back exhausts, etc on this calibration with the assumption the parts you're fitting are designed specifically to run on a stock calibration truck.

This is particularly important with the intakes.

We do have a Stage 2 calibration in the works that is tailored specifically for use with the common bolt-ons using premium fuel only for peak performance on the OE Turbocharger.

Stage 3 (also in the works) will build on Stage 2, and focus around a bolt-in OEM Turbo upgrade and premium fuel only.

Lots more to come!

As mentioned above, the Stage 1 calibration is designed specifically to be an "all octane" general performance enhancement, designed around a fully stock truck, that can work with Intakes designed for use with OE MAF calibration data, cat-backs and other bolt on upgrades.

Stage 2 will be a specific calibration designed around these bolts ons.

Same price?

Stage 2 should have a similar price point to Stage 1. Pricing hasn't been finalized, but I can confirm it won't be a significant increase.

We’ll also offer an upgrade path for those on our Stage 1 calibration.

Once things are finalized and we're ready for release, I'll have that info.

I thought I saw OTT mentioning in a recent article that they were going to release the tune with a hand-held device as well, is there any feedback on that? I personally don't relish the idea of going somewhere to get a tune installed. Guess I'm lazy that way.

Looking for some experience here. I really want to get this tune, but I just got quoted $650 and wanted to be sure it was a good price
I have not been tuned by OTT, but for another reference point the tuning for my 2018 F150 was somewhere around $750. This was a few years ago and included the module to tune at home. So $650 seems to be in a fair price range even if it doesn't include access to tune it yourself.

I'm looking forward to more feedback on the OTT tune. Tuning my F150 made a substantial difference, so I'm definitely a fan of tuning. The only thing holding me back right now is trying to decide what throttle sensitivity I want... the Taco is my daily driver and I spend a lot of time in stop-and-go traffic so I don't want it to be too "touchy" on the throttle.

I have the Magnaflow overland kit and OTT tune. Waiting to get a intake.
