Yes, I find the remote start with the correctly timed clicks a pain in the butt. But, today's question is, can you increase the running time after remote start?? Here in Boston, we're dealing with an extended period of morning temps in the teens. I haven't time it, but the engine running after remote start is very short. My Tacoma is hardly warmed up.

I. did find out that using Toyota App, that I can set the temperature higher when I use the remote start. Also, using the Toyota App, I just click one Botton to remote start(no clicks)and I don't even have to be able to see the truck to activate the remote start.

the truck will also resume the state of the steering wheel / seat heater when remote started.

so you can just activate both of those right before you turn off the truck and in the morning they will come back on.

The app uses 4G which allows you to start he truck from anywhere. Once the trail ends the subscription is $15 per month.

$15.00 a month??? Wow! $180.00 a year. I don't see myself continuing the app when the one year trial ends.

I cancelled my trials in the dealership parking lot cause I didn't want Toyota sending all of my data to all these 3rd party entities, especially insurance.

No. It's hard set at 10 minutes. And you can only perform 2 cycles before you must press the start/ignition button in the cab.

Also,
for the nags on the fob buttons to start, Toyota gives pretty clear timing instructions:

How do I start the vehicle using my Toyota key fob?

Using the key fob to remote start a Remote Connect equipped Toyota:
Press the LOCK button on the remote.
Press the LOCK button a second time within 1 second.
Press the LOCK button again, this time holding it for 3 seconds. The vehicle will start.

I am able to resume the steering wheel heater when leaving on before shutoff, but not my seats. When I remote start from the app, seats don't resume.

Ouch, is that confirmed? I've seen various posts stating it ranges from $99/year to a one-time $99 fee. About halfway through my trial and I'm finding I use it enough to possibly consider $99/year, but $15/month seems a bit ridiculous.

I thought it was 10 years before they started charging for the app. But I may have misheard the sales guy.

That's for SOS and possibly Service Connect.

Guess I’ll be buying a proper 2-way remote start system with a better range soon.
