My TRD Sport came with an A/C power outlet in the bed. It puts out 400 watts. What happens if you overload it, say use a shop that requires 800 watts? Is there an overload protection on it, or can something be fried?

Yea you’re not overloading the inverter by attempting to use appliances that require higher wattage. In the case of some appliances they might run but their motors or diodes will sputter at a lower RPM/dimmer etc. hard to say if thats good for them sans maybe analogue lights, they just run dimmer, e.g. if you have qty 5 100w light bulbs running simultaneously
