Is my transmission supposed to sound like a diesel tractor?

I just bought a 24 Limited. Currently have less than 250 miles on it, but I can't help but notice that it sounds like a diesel tractor when I shift it into drive. Is this a normal noise for these trucks?

According to the TSB, my truck is not inside the effected VIN range.

I dont think mine does that.
Sounds like a chattering solenoid.
What really grinds my gears (no pun intended) is Toyota bought back my 24 Tundra because of transmission issues. Really annoys me if my tacoma will also have similar issues.

Mine sounds the same way. I figured more than likely it’s the direct injection system on the engine once under load aka drive makes the direct injection kick in more due to the load. Hence when it’s in park or neutral it’s not under load so it’s quieter.

Interesting... Toyota actually bought back my 24 Tundra recently due to Transmission issues. I was really hoping I wouldn't hit on 2 in a row.

Does yours also make a "tick tick tick" sound in park rhymatically (in a 3 tick beat?)

I put the phone under my truck and it does flutter more when it goes into gear. Doesn't sound as pronounced as the recording in the OP. I didnt notice it before.

It’s normal, it’s the engine not the transmission. It’s the d4s system.

2024 SR5, less than 200 miles, sounds like you describe.

That’s your engine’s fuel delivery, not the transmission…

Sounds like nothing out of the ordinary based on my 6 months/10k miles with mine.

that's the high pressure fuel pump for the direct injection. You can use a screw driver to listen to it and you'll hear that distinctive clicking.
