Metal flakes in oil

I checked my oil at 1100 miles and found metal flakes in the oil. Checked it again at 3300 miles and still found some small flakes in the oil.
I took the truck to my local Toyota dealership and had them change the oil at 5000 miles. I showed the service technician my videos and they sent a sample of my oil out for testing.
check your oil! I tried to load one of the videos for viewing but the upload keeps getting hung up.

I changed mine at 1k, 2k, and 5k and definitely never saw that…. Submitted analysis at 1k to blackstone and it was within limits, mostly just high silocone levels from it being a fresh engine.

they'll probably tell you its normal after they get the test back, if they actually test it. Alternatively, many have done their own analysis with Blackstone. They'll send you collection bottles which you return and get results in about a week. I did this with my first break-in at 1625km so that I could get a baseline for the next 1-3 changes. My results echoed what most online have received, higher metal contents are expected, and also shows what universal avg are to see where your individual results sit. I wouldn't worry too much at this point until you can get a baseline to compare to.

That's why I always change the oil at 5,000 miles or sooner if the opportunity presents.

At 900 miles. Calling to make appt for oil and filter change at 1k. Will do again at 5k and every 5 k afterwards.

this is how I break in every new vehicle. I also am disciplined to drive no faster than 55 until that first oil change is complete.
