13 mpg is not normal under any circumstances - are you constantly flooring it or driving very short distances ?
Heavy 33s and a heavy foot. Mostly highway driving but the traffic is horrible during my highway drives. A lot of people with inconsistent gas pedals so constantly going from 90kph to 120kph over and over again. Turbo is constantly spooling in this truck lol.

My city doesn't plow either so the times I am driving in town I'm sure trying to track through snow doesn't help the milage.

I'll get 16-17 for a couple months but it'll slowly average again to 18, god forbid if I got to tow anything lol.

Yeah - towing has always been a mileage killer for a midsize truck. My 2nd gen mileage was cut in half towing any larger trailer/load. That is actually what got me into a Tundra for a while. It had so much power that the mileage hardly changed with a trailer - it was terrible all of the time. :)

To put things in perspective, if we were to get 23 MPG which no one would complain about vs. the 19 average most are getting, and paying $3 USD per gallon, over the course of driving 12k miles per year we would save $350. I don’t want to throw away $350 at once but over the course of a year I could live with it given everything else I love about the truck including the added pep over my Gen 3 that got the same 19 MPG.

I previously owned 2003, 2010, and 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road, Double Cab models, and recently purchased a 2025 Double Cab, TRD Off Road. I have just over 1300 miles and have been shocked at how poor the gas mileage is so far (16.3 mpg; as calculated by hand upon fill-up). I was wondering if anyone out there is seeig similar results? Also, being an old, non-tech geezer I am a bit overwhelmed by all the electronic gagdetry and was wondering if that rather constant pushing and pulling in the lane assist mode actually affects gas mileage? I'm about to try turning it all off to see if that helps.
When I first got my 24 I was a bit disappointed with the mileage, but understood along the lines of what everybody talks about here as this being a truck and to not expect good mileage. However, once I hit around 4500 miles my mileage started to improve dramatically. I Drive with a heavy foot in city and always fast on the highway. So, typically on the highways, I will be well above 75 and somewhere slightly below 90 miles an hour for long stretches. On those trips I usually get somewhere around 23.8 miles per gallon. In the city, It’s typically around 17 miles per gallon to 17 1/2 miles per gallon. But this is fairly recent for me, prior to hitting higher miles on the truck, my mileage was very similar to what you are reporting here. Don’t know if it’s just everything breaking in or what. Also, I am on my Second oil change so perhaps that has helped a bit as well. Oh! Forgot to mention that I have removed the air dam, and do have a hard tonneau cover on my SR5.

That is great ! I’m close to 12K and I don’t get mileage that good unless I drive gingerly but my truck weighs 5400 pounds and sits higher

i’ve averaged 21.8 over the past 19k miles. It's about the same MPG I got in my 2nd and 3rd gens. Tacomas are just shit on gas mileage.

That’s super high. My average over long periods (several gas tanks) hovers in the high 18s.

I do probably a 70/30 highway/city mix of driving. I rarely go above 70mph and I’m on 265 tires. On my work commute it’s not uncommon for me to get 25+ mpgs and that trip is like 90% highway at 70mph.

My commute is about 15min. each way of 40 - 50 MPH. At the end I'm getting close to 19mpg. Which is fine, but I bought my Tacoma really because of reliability and hope to get 200K out of the truck before I move it on. I was seriously looking at the Rivian R1T, but the price differential means my cost of gas is pretty much justified for the life of the truck :)

It's not the fuel mileage that'll get ya, it's the stupidly small fuel tank.
On the highway, I get 23 to 24 MPG. 18.2 x 23 = 418 miles. That's the same range I was getting with my third-gen Tacoma.

What I don't like is that it estimates my range as 305 or something similar when I fill up.

If you really want phenomenal gas mileage you’ll need to wait until Toyota gives us a Tacoma Prime, that will be the next step after the iForceMax Hybrid.

I have the same TRD Off Road as you. 1100 miles in. 16.3 mpg just like you. Admittedly almost no highway miles. Going to try and put some highway miles to see what it does. I am a bit concerned but waiting to see.

I am only at 2k miles, but my mileage continues to improve. Just today I got 20.4 mpg for a mostly freeway drive of 25 miles. Last week the same drive got my 19.7 mpg. My mileage also made a noticeable improvement when I installed a tonneau.
