I'm about 1700 miles in on my new TRD Pro Taco and the MPG's have been pretty disappointing. My highway miles average right around 18 mpg. I'm almost always in ECO mode, and I live in the valley here in western Oregon, so the slight inclines are equally matched with the slight declines. I don't have a heavy foot and I'm usually in cruise set to about 60 mph. My city MPGs are better, usually around 20-22.

You are driving a Pro which is a hybrid, I’m driving a Gas model Sport. I see almost the exact opposite. I usually see 18-19 mpg city and 20-22 mpg highway.

Nothing posted about 70 - usually drive 70-75 mph. I have had other Pro owners tell me they get 25-26 driving a lot faster. One guy said he didn't think there was any way that he could make his get 17 mpg, no matter how hard he flogged it. Just seems strange that there is such a big range between identical trucks.

TRD OF M/T all stock running 92 octane getting 22mpg +/-0.5gal. 70hwy/30city driving. I drive pretty easy and hwy speed around 65mph.

I would be curious for those who have removed stock tires what your MPG is looking like.

I have 285/70/17 on now and saw a pretty good dip down from the low 20s, sitting highway around 17 and city 14/15 mpg. Didnt expect much given the change, but just wonder how drastic of a difference other folks saw.

I went with a 10 ply 285/70/17 and the best i can get is 14.5 both city and highway.

I get garbage MPG i am at 16 stock height/tires. But I live in a very hilly area its nearly 100% 'city' driving. Its a little frustrating that I can get in the truck and it says say 240miles to empty...i'll drive maybe 6 miles and it will say 220 miles to empty. On the highway I have gotten around 22-23... this is my offroad upgrade w/ no front spoiler

When my truck broke down they gave me a SR5 longbed for a week. I got very noticeable better mileage. I put around 400 miles on the rental and I was getting 18-19 around town and up to 25+ on the highway. Different tires + front spoiler and flatter area to drive around.

I still have never touched 25mpg in my Offroad even with 93 octane. The SR5 was cruising at 25mpg easily on regular gas.

Yeah my SR5 was showing 24mpg (flat indiana hwy driving) but the gps speed was of by 5mph at 65mph using the my gps to monitor speed vs the speedometer. I went up 2 sizes on my tires and now the speedometer matches the gps speed but my mpgs are 14.5 and I drive like a grandpa. It's seems that toyota did some sketchy stuff to get the reported mpgs out of this truck.

you think someone would just go on the internet and tell lies?

i am positive those people are not resetting the trip meter at every fill up and pulling a calculator up on their phone to divide the miles on the dash by the gallons that just went in the tank.

I just did my third fill-up with my Sport Hybrid 4x4. Hand calculated the mileage using the trip meter and gallons at the pump. So far it’s been 22.7, 20.7, and 22.0 mpgs.

10K miles on the trailhunter now. Mostly highway. Fuelly tells me the very best was 19.2, and I got that on an all in town driving slow tank. On the highway I get between 13-15.9 depending on winds, driving at posted speed limit +3 and 500lbs in the back. I've seen as bad as 12.5 in west texas bucking a 35 knot headwind. my average over 10K miles is 15.3 (calculated per tank in fuelly.)

Edit: with the load in back, I boosted the stock tire pressures to 45 instead of the door posted 35, and there was a 2 MPG improvement over a few thousand miles. Also, the Prinsu Rack on the roof definitely killed off between 1-2 mpg, depending on speed. -2 at highway to about -1 in town.
