These seats are strange. Mine started out quiet, made noises for a while and now have gone silent again. I think mine only made noise when I had them in the off road setting and stopped when I switched them back to the on road setting. Has anyone experimented with that?

It will be interesting to see if Toyota does anything about this and if dealers keep punting and saying it is normal.

If you dealer doesn't do anything you can bring it up with Brand Engagement, although that is a long shot from what I can tell.

@TacoFreak the passenger ISO Dynamic seat in my TRD PRO has been squeaking since day 1. I've called Toyota Brand Engagement multiple times as well as logged the same issues with my local dealership. Unfortunately, I was told by the service manager until Toyota creates some type of remedy, that I'm basically stuck with a squeaking passenger seat. I've adjusted the PSI, changed the off-road to road settings, and have also adjusted the lumbar settings to get rid of the squeaking. However, none of these solutions have worked. The dealership was "unable" to replicate the same noise even after keeping my PRO for a whole day. Any recommendations or advice to fix the squeaking is appreciated. Brand engagement did seemed concerned with my issue as the gentleman who assisted me called 2-3 times per week, but brand engagement can also go so far until Toyota finds an actual solution.

Good info @YourOnlineHero - you have certainly touched every base on this. My seats make a click if I push back on the upper seat and sometimes rattle on rough roads. If they were as bad as yours are I would be all over this too.

I guess making Toyota aware that this is a problem might lead to some kind of fix, but I can't say I would be happy to have my dealer's service department taking apart these complex seats. Definitely let us know if Toyota ever gives you an answer. My truck is so tight and solid that any rattle really stands out and is irritating as hell.

Dealer looked at mine today. The cloudy gauges were obvious but they couldn’t reproduce the noise at first. It’s kinda quirky in that it feels fine unless you know exactly how to reproduce it. I had the tech sit in the seat relaxed and push his back into the seat until it flexed back a little. Then I told him to slowly release pressure and let the seat move forward slowly. It feels like something rubbing and sticking or grabbing at times. It doesn’t return to unflexed state smoothly and you can feel it in the seat. He felt it immediately.

They reached out to Toyota and said they’re aware of the issue and are working on a solution but it may be a little while. t’s a pretty minor annoyance on an otherwise amazing truck. I’m confident Toyota will resolve it and get us a resolution. It’s a new seat design with new challenges. As long as they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution im happy.

In a video on YouTube, the chief engineer described the seats as having dampers to control left/right movement and up/down movement. He also said there is some ability for the seat to move backwards but they couldn’t allow it to move forward. So there is some mechanism that allows the seat to flex back a bit but not forward. So I think one thing we are feeling is the hard stop or thump that you can feel when the upper part of seat returns to a relaxed state after being flexed back. I think that part is probably mostly normal. What doesn’t seem normal or expected is it sticking and rubbing when slowly returning to the unflexed position. It doesn’t flex forward smoothly at all. This becomes really noticeable in normal driving when you accelerate a little bit and then slowly release the throttle. You can feel that sticking and grabbing it the seat.

Good progress for you and all of us Pro owners! Thanks

Glad to hear they at least acknowledge and are working on it. Thanks for the update! I’m in for service again next week. I’ll ask them about it again as well.

attached a photo from a YouTube video. I’m wondering if it has something to do with the piece his finger is pointing at? The seats pivots forwards and back there.

yes, I think so. My guess is there is some type of urethane bushing in there that’s supposed to allow it to slide smoothly without metal to metal contact but it’s not sliding smoothly.

Makes sense. Might be why my "clunk" doesn't seem as pronounced now. Things must be wearing in there...which could be good or bad 😂
