On and bolted down.Got mine assembled. Hope to mount it today.
Definitely takes 2 people. And you do want the correct torque wrench so that you don't over-tighten everything. Took about 3 hours to assemble.DIY, hats off to you
Good freakin awesome!
Received and installed yesterday.I ordered mine in June. Still haven't received. I think they are focusing primarily on the 5' beds. I hope to atleast get mine before I have to deal with snow in the bed.
Is the Gator cover the low profile one? Any chance you can upload a picture. ThanksGreat looking bed cap.
I chose to go with a Gator rolling tonneau cover but a SmartCap Evo would be my #1 bed cap choice.
Mine seems okay.Anyone else concerned about this?
Your truck looks absolutely SICK with that cap. There is just enough contrast between the Underground colour and the matte black of the cap. And with the new tires and wheels, (and possibly a mild lift?) the truck doesn't start to look too long - even with the long bed.Got mine today !
Yeah, I think that would bother me. Is the cap snugged up to the cab as far as it can reasonably go? I bet even 1/4" would make a difference.I just installed my Smartcap yesterday. It's pretty sweet, but I feel like I'm going to pull the rear door seal off on the top tailgate cap lip opening/closing as it catches it pretty firmly. Anyone else concerned about this?
Yep- it is within 1/8" of the cab, and considered moving closer, but I think that is a bad idea. Smartcap customer service is sending me some thin pads to put underneath the rear most rubber blocks sitting on the bed rail to help elevate the rear very slightly to help minimize the issue. I'm skeptical this will do much.Is the cap snugged up to the cab as far as it can reasonably go? I bet even 1/4" would make a difference.
Of course, you could always drop the tailgate first, but that's pretty inconvenient.
I had similar concerns, I think I moved the cap slightly forward and this is less of an issue for me now. The gasket hits the lip of the tailgate but is not difficult to open.I just installed my Smartcap yesterday. I just got my cap installed today. It has the same issue with the tight seal as the door opens past the tailgate. I've had a pretty close look and I would not be comfortable moving the cap forward any more than it already is. There is a flange near the base of the cap that is probably withing 4-5mm of the cab. That's pretty damn close for a truck that's going to flex from time to time.I just installed my Smartcap yesterday.
