Ha! You must not know many dealers….
If my dealer tried something they would have a bunch of pissed customers. They have many trucks in inventory that are either in "build phase" or "in transit." Many of those are pending sale. This dealer is selling them before they are built.

Cost of doing business! If they put them under contract before delivery it’s on them.

I have known more dealers than I would care to, and my opinion of car dealers isn't any higher than yours. lol

I just think the purchase agreement is basically a contract and even slime ball dealers would have a hard time backing out of that. But I might be surprised and learn to have even less faith in them than I do now.

But I think the real decision will come down to how Toyota handles this. They set the price that the dealers pay, so they could bump it up by all or part of the tariff. Then I assume the dealers would just pass that along to buyers. If the wholesale price increases by the full 25%, dealers might end up making even more profit and Tacoma sales will fall off of a cliff IMO.

This is basically a very screwed up situation for people in the process of finally getting their trucks.

Here is an image from an article about how the new tariffs will negatively impact the auto business. These trucks look kind of familiar to me. lol

I read somewhere that toyota may also spread the cost of the tariffs across the range of vehicles they sell, softening the blow to the Tacoma. Looks like a viable option.

lol, I just saw this and I guess the Taco is the poster child for tariffs.

I thought all Tacos were tire strapped to the transport. I guess not according to to this pic. That was the reason for the over inflated tires.
