Towing without a Brake controller

Newbie question here... My 2024 4x4 TRD Sport doesn't have a Trailer Brake controller. :( What does this mean in terms of limitations for towing with this truck? Does this mean that I can't tow a trailer that has electric brakes, because it can't make use of them or control them? Should I limit towing to lighter trailers?

It means if you have E brakes on a trailer then they will not work and the trailer will be pushing you when you try to stop. If you do not add an aftermarket brake controller then you need to tow something light weight that does not require a controller or a trailer with jake brakes.

What been said about brakes is spot on. I don't know about I UT other states, but in Commifornia any trailer over 1500 lbs must have brakes, electric or surge.

Someone please correct me if incorrect.

Surge brakes are mechanically operated with the braking system being entirely contained within/on the trailer. Operating when back pressure is placed on the hitch as a result of the towing vehicle slowing down.

I didn't know such thing existed, My poverty spec TRD OR didn't come with the integrated trailer break controller, but if or when I need one Ill likely get one of these.
