Hey brothas,
Was just curious bc I don’t know anything about screens or tech. So I didn’t get the premium package I got the upgrade package on 2024 Tacoma off road. So I didn’t care about the power tailgate and the other things. But the 360 camera and the camera system is something I’d actually really like. Now the camera “mirror” I’ve seen where I can get that taken care of by something like a wolf box. I know there’s some smart people on here. Anyone know how I go about getting some of these camera systems and 360 camera the premium package has? And could that be integrated in the screen? There has to be a way. Thanks gentlemen

I would assume you would need a lot of parts. You wouldn't even have the button to switch to the cameras on the panel either. I would guess the software on the system would need to be swapped to use those cameras as well. This is all a guess though. I don't exactly know how hard it would be to add all of that

I'd be curious as to what the price is - seeing as how upgrading to the 14" screen is upwards of 10k

You'd need a lot.

  • A different third brake light with the two cameras
  • The front camera
  • The side mirrors with the cameras
  • The digital mirror
  • The switch
  • A software update
  • The 14 screen
And that's assuming the wiring harness is already in your truck. Unfortunately, I don't think it's doable.

Hey sage thanks brotha. I do have the 14” screen. The rest there’s like kits you can buy that have little cameras and what not it does hook up to its own screen. Idk how I feel about another big screen in the truck. Might be more work than it’s worth

I installed a Wolfbox digital rear view mirror and really like it but trying to hack it to have a front facing camera would be a pain. I tried a few things but the camera plugs seem to be proprietary.

That said, this company makes a digital mirror with the option to add an additional camera, which could be front facing. I didn't do it due to the lack of reviews, plus it feels pretty expensive for what you're getting.

Ultimately I think the best option will be this. It's basically a switchbox that allows you to add cameras in line with the factory backup camera and then you just switch between the cameras to see the one you want to view. There's a wire that tricks the truck into thinking it's in reverse so the back camera shows up and then you can view whichever camera you want via a pushbutton. The only problem with this option is that apparently Toyota changed the connector in the new truck and so far this company hasn't been able to source the connector to make something for our truck. I'm sure it's just a matter of time though so I'm planning to wait it out and purchase it when it becomes available.

Check out this vid
They essentially did what I want with an older model Tacoma. Tacoma beast.com has the whole setup. Has under body cameras. Side cameras. Front and back etc. the have it connect to like a little 10” display unit. I’m just curious if I’m able to connect to the Tacoma 14” display. It’s def doable.

And I def like your idea at the end about switching between.

Been curious about this as well from what others threads have said a suprising amount of wires are pre run in these trucks and TRD Sport owners have had mixed but forward progress results with things like MTM by just swapping the buttons into the center console so It might be worth a shot. I would totally take a crack at it if you know what parts you need.

Okay so I’m in the exact same boat. I have your same package which is pretty much just the 14” display and heated seats. You wouldn’t actually have to do a software update if we managed to find the cameras. Everything is plug and play with the limited Tacoma trims. Just like how the TRD sport owners managed to get the multi terrain selection just by popping in a TRD offroad dial. You have to go to a Toyota dealership then hit up their parts department and find the VIN to a TRD premium that has the cameras and from there they could find the part numbers to not only the cameras but also the camera button that would sit in your center console area. The only problem is the price, I’m gonna have to guess and say it will be well into the 4 figure range I really wouldn’t be surprised if they quoted well over 2k for it.

I asked the Toyota parts department about the digital rear view mirror the other day. I have the trd offroad premium so I have the 360 camera but being from Canada we don't get the digital rear view on this level. I would assume the wiring is there already but it's quite expensive.
The rear view mirror was over $600 taxes not included and while I would just need one camera, of course you can't just buy that, and need to buy the complete break light with the two cameras instead of one which is over $200. So around $1000CAD for just those two parts. A low rez monitor with some buttons and a low quality camera. What a rip off
