I always get amsoil. Theres tons of interesting torture tests and spec verifications of all oil brands and types on youtube. Amsoil almost always come out as the winner. Its usually Amsoil and Pennsoil that come out on top.

Its not hard to get, so why not.

I do know one thing ive noticed with their severe gear oil line. When i started using it in my diffs a long while ago, on all my vehicles, the amount of powdered metal particles on the drain plug magnets dropped to almost nothing. That to me was a very good indicator of its protection.
Its not engine oil related to your question, but they do seem to make a significantly higher quality oil.
I completely agree with your comments here. Longtime Amsoil fan. I'll go as far as to say that their PI Performance Improver fuel treatment is phenomenal in my opinion as well. I use that every 3 to 5k miles

Advice - The Kirkland 0W20 motor oil will always be cheaper than whatever is on sale at Crappy Tire. And 2-3 times a year the Kirkland oil goes on sale, at under $25 for two 5 litre jugs. The certifications on the Kirkland brand oil are well respected (Dexos certification).
yep, grabbed a bunch during the last sale $40 for my other 2 cars. Will run Toyota oil for a couple changes to see what kind of baseline we can gather as its moly content is off the charts. Kirkland oil highly rated.

I use Kirkland. Sure Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc. may be better on paper, but realistically any quality synthetic is going to get you 100's of thousands of miles assuming you change it and the filter, regularly.

If you want the best protection…use amsoil signature series and a Toyota oil filter . Absolute best protection for Turbos and the rest of the engine

Yet another oil thread. Use the Toyota OEM oil. You can usually get it from the parts counter for ~$5.50 a quart (ask for their best price!). It is NOT Mobil 1 and has much higher levels of Moly & Boron. See this post. The Amsoil Moly is 225 and the Boron is 356ppm. The TGMO has 755ppm of Moly and 204ppm Boron. Toyota knows this turbo spins at 150,000rpm and the heat it generates.

That being said, regular oil changes with any oil like Costco, Valvoline, Supertech, and Amsoil should be fine. Just do them well in advance of Toyota's recommended interval of 10,000 miles.
