I currently have the ability to remotely start my Tacoma using the app on my phone, But I do not always have my phone out and ready when I am getting ready to drive. I always have the key fob, because the key fob has to be in the car. Does anybody know why there is no remote start button on the key fob?

I have a 2025. Press lock twice then hold lock. The truck will remote start. I find it funny that nobody at the dealer told me this was a feature. Not sure if it’s found in the manual either.

Not in the manual. But on Toyota FAQ website on how their fobs work (vs a dedicated button).

Does not apply if you have a manual transmission

Make sure your three presses are in consecutive order, then on the 3rd press, hold button for about 3 to 5 sec. Your tail lights will flash about 7 to 8 times then your truck will start. Plenty of videos on you tube. Good luck....

Thank you for the reply. I tried your instruction -Press lock twice then hold lock - but it did not work on my truck. I noticed your truck is a 2024 SR5. Maybe that is the difference.
That method would not work on my 25 TRD Sport.
Thanks for the input though.

The push three times and hold is kinda picky, there is a definite rhythm to it that if you don't get just right it won't work and you have to then wait 20 to 30 seconds before trying again. You can not just launch into another attempt. It is a finicky beast that I feel is designed to make you just give up and use the app (which, I admit, sometimes I do).

Thank you. I Tried it again and found that it does work. I also realized it is very slow. like you mentioned press twice then hold. I saw that you then have to wait for the truck to flash it's light many times, before it will start.
I think Toyota is just trying to get us to use the app which we have to pay for. Why can't Toyota just provide us a user friendly vehicle and a normal remote start like other OEMs?
Thank you again.
