As the title suggest, I used to lock my old Cruze all the time with the Chevrolet app while the vehicle was running,

I was hoping I could do the same with the Tacoma as I have the 6M and we're not graced with the remote start/stop feature, and it sucks to shut down your vehicle for even two minutes in our -40ā°C weather that's about to hit us soon.

When I tried with the vehicle running yesterday, no keys in the truck and far enough away that the truck wouldn't detect the key, the app told me "Cannot lock vehicle while vehicle is driving" well.... The vehicle isn't driving. It's in neutral with the parking brake engaged.

Anyone know if that's a general error or if it's just worded incorrectly and won't let you lock the truck while it's running?

Kinda sucks, I'm assuming I'm going to have to wait for an aftermarket manual transmission remote start.

Interesting lol. How do you do that? Leave the fob, hit the door lock button and walk away? How do you get back into the vehicle, just grab the handle?

Funny enough, my Cruze wouldn't let me lock the vehicle with the keys in it, it would automatically unlock again. Which makes more sense šŸ˜œ

I lock with physical key and then take both fob and key with me . But only thing is next time it will only unlock with physical key . Its possible to keep truck running without key fob inside . It will beep few times but then stop

No once its locked with physical key then only way to open it is with physical key . Fob doesnā€™t work once its locked with key
You can 100 percent unlock it once locked with key from the app. Do it everyday.

So to use the app after your free trial what do you pay for to do so? Does that also include use of navigation ?

Maybe Iā€™m missing something here. But canā€™t you just leave the truck running, take the fob with you, & hit the lock button on the fob from outside the truck? Or touch the lock part of the door handle?

Ah. Good to know thanks. I suspect once I actually get behind the wheel of a Toyota Iā€™ll find other small things like this that Iā€™m used to doing in other cars that donā€™t work the same.
