Not according to Ford! I came across the Ford Maverick sales stats and found it funny that they're trying to cast the Mav as a midsize in order to claim sales superiority over the Taco. Hmm what does that make the Ranger then 🤔

"Maverick, with record Q1 sales, remains the No. 1 selling midsize pickup in America, outselling Toyota's Tacoma."

Of course the 2024 Tacoma will be outsold for the first few months of this year, they probably just got to full capacity. They ramp up production of new models, starting with a few a day and build on that once they get the process bugs worked out. The true sales figures will be through the rest of the year.

Of course sales are down. There is no supply.

The Maverick is boring. Still like the Taco, but I'd buy a Colorado long before a Maverick.

I think it was ~40 days with limited to no Supply a Tacomas because of the QI hold. I would say these stats don't really mean anything.

They'd sell more trucks if they got their manufacturing issues fixed and shipped some trucks our way... shrug
Not sure what you mean by that. Local dealers have a number of them on their lots here. They just aren't moving due to the excessive price. I checked out a SR trim the other day, it was basically a stripped down service truck, the msrp was more than what I paid for my 2020 gen3 sr5 v6 4x4 thats fairly loaded I had allocated with tech packages, and dealer installed options.

A similar trim frontier costs thousands less vs these 2024 taco's. A neighbor has one, its been a good truck so far. At any rate dealers here started discounting the gen4's in hopes to move them as they have a number in transit due any day.

Yes, I understand the argument about lack of supply, but there are several at my local dealer. However, they are pretty much all lower trim models. Funny thing is that with the Tundra it is the opposite. They have a TON of Tundras deeply discounted with 0% interest. Mostly high trim levels. Seeing discounts as high as $8K, but starting around $5K on the Limited trim.

Anyway, my point is that assuming production is still ramping up, there being lots of inventory on lots is not a good sign for Toyota. Especially with this being the first year of a highly anticipated redesign. I expect sales to be slow overall this year even factoring in the production concerns. The consumer is getting absolutely hammered right now on virtually everything.

If you can wait to buy I ABSOLUTELY think you should. Toyota still is not giving promotional interest rates on the Tacoma, but I expect that will change before the end of the year. Also, I expect bargaining power for the consumer to go up a LOT!! End of the year could end up being a KILLER time to buy a vehicle.
