This little raised spot against the windshieldWhat is the windshield cowl defect
I’m still out on the cowl being the problem. Some of the 3rd gens had the same issue on the cowl. That is literally a rubber piece that isn’t sealed to the glass. Run a hose over that spot and show me water coming into the area in the engine bay and I may change my mind.it can happen to any its a cowl problem
Exactly. My 3G had this cowel issue but water never got in. UnrelatedI’m still out on the cowl being the problem. Some of the 3rd gens had the same issue on the cowl. No, but it will probably get there eventually. Thanks for the info unfortunately urs isnt nearly as bad as mine
While I agree (much like the transmission issue is being blown way out of proportion), it does seem that the defective cowling is exacerbating the problem. That or OP just lives in an exceptionally moist area.Wow. People here get super irate over normal non-painted surfaces that get some rust due to moisture / humidity. Its an engine that is exposed to the elements. It's normal and as someone else stated above, will still outlast the truck. Sheesh
Yeah - the part is in no danger of failing - it is cast iron and probably more than 1/2 inch thick.Wow. Well, most of us old farts never saw rust on an engine before because they were always covered with grease from all the leaky valve coversWow.
