Yeah, I love my truck and I write software for a living, but I find configuring the gauges extremely confusing. I might need to look for a YouTube video that might make this whole thing easier. I bet a lot of owners get them as close as possible to what they want and then just give up.

From what I have read there is no clear fix for the tire pressure problem.
And why, for the love of everything, did they not program that hitting the turn/lane change indicator doesn't activate a live view of the respective side mirror camera?!?
Also, WTF with not having all the factory colors in the software for matching your truck in the 360 camera views... pretty annoying to see it every time in a color that isn't actually your color.

(sorry, total thread derailment... should have stayed focused on the HUD & Navigation)

Just curious, is it useful/possible to manually press the camera button when changing lanes to help peek?

But definitely agreed, that would be a useful feature. My mom has a CRV that does this... That's 10 years old. Maybe Toyota lawyers nixed the idea.

As others have pointed out, only Apple Maps (for Apple Carplay users) displays turn-by-turn on the HUD when switched on. I've tested others including Waze and no dice.

I assume Goolge/Waze would pursue this as an added feature, but it may be restricted given that Apple Maps is native to Mac OS/Carplay. Apple does let others play in their sandbox, but may be reserving their best features for native solutions.

I've been using Apple Maps for nav lately and prefer it, but do love the police notifications in Waze.

Tint the windshield with a super faint Ceramic tint, keeps the UV rays and heat out and minimizes the need for sunglasses, and the HUD still works fine!

Anyone else’s HUD trim rattle like crazy? I need to ask the dealer to replace/check clips or just add a foam strip myself. I know its simple but its mildly annoying since my truck is only 2 weeks old.

Others have reported this. I thought mine was until I realized it was my visor when in the downward position moving slightly and causing a plastic on plastic sound. However if you figure out a good solution please post for future reference

The HUD works fine with my non-polarized gun glasses too, only my polarized pair cause a problem.

Can someone tell me what it took to get the turn by turn to display on the HUD and instrument center?

Specially, I'm trying to use it with Android Auto and Google Maps (in case we enter the land of corner cases).

My phone is paired and in a Toyota profile that gets recognized when I get it (paired to physical fob, not digital key). I have the HUD set to "full information" with "driver support" turned on. I have my instrument settings for center cluster being "driver support". I have NOT activated Toyota Connected Services yet. The connection to the truck is wireless.

Anyone else having an issue?
Anyone successful that can share their full setup?
Did you have to enable Connected Services first?
If you go to the “HUD Main” menu and hold down OK, then go to “HUD Driving Support”, you can change it from Normal to Full. Then you will get NAV in the HUD.

Also should add, this seems to only work with Apple Maps, but that's how you turn on the feature. Does not work when I use Google Maps......

Did that. Doesn't show it; at least not with Subscriptions disabled, Android Auto, using Google Maps.
Were you successful getting Android Auto to show up in the HUD? and if so, which program (GMaps, Waze, etc.)?

Trying to tease out if its a Carplay v. AAuto thing? or a specific nav program thing...

All Apple over here, not sure about Android stuff.

Found this nugget on a different forum. I'm wondering if it generally holds still: that once full is enabled on HUD, Toyota and Carplay will echo through to the HUD, but AAuto will not. But that all three can show up within the instrument cluster.
(I can get AAuto/GMaps to show in my instrument cluster for turn-by-turn... just not up on the HUD itself)

On my 2023 Toyota Highlander Apple maps, not Google maps, show in the heads up display when using CarPlay. They show up in the heads up display when you get to a turn. Toyota says only the factory navigation maps will show up in the heads up display but that is incorrect. When using Android Auto, however, no maps showing in the heads up display. When I say heads up display I'm talking about the display in the bottom of the windshield that only the driver can see. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay directions will show up in the instrument cluster on my 2023 Highlander

Apple maps definitely show in the HUD in my truck, I just used it this afternoon. Just the turns, but that is all I want anyway. If I want to see a map I look at the display for the greater detail.

Toyota will have to fix that for android auto. AA sends the nav data to the infotainment, it even shows up in the instrument cluster so you know the car has the information it needs, just need to have it actually show up on the HUD, too.

I'd be willing to bet that if Toyota had their way, neither would echo through so that it's a differentiator for you to buy their nav subscription. But that Carplay must use some protocol in their code that Toyota can't block without impacting their own software.
